I'm looking to be in the US from the 12-14 June and if apple release a new version of macbook pros, then I would want to upgrade my 17" powermac G4 1ghz... (also would be cheaper getting it from the US and I can't stand the layout of the British keyboards!)
If Steve announces the new version at the 11th June keynote, how likely is it that they would be available in the stores on the 11th or 12th ?

Sometimes they are available in stores the day after the announcement. Sometimes it takes a few days (or even weeks). I don't think you'll know in advance.
This rumor claimed that Apple ordered components to be delivered by May. That would allow production to ramp up before WWDC starts. Of course that's just a rumor.
If the new MBP is indeed announced at the WWDC keynote, there's a good chance you'll be able to pick up one of the standard configs at an Apple store before you leave.

If you order one day of the announcement, they will be available in 12 weeks. If you decide not to wait and order a current model, they will be available immediately.

Who knows??
You're asking people to foresee the future. Prior updates to the laptops were available immediately while other updates were only available after a number of weeks.
since we do not even know if 1. there will be a new MBP update (thought odds are there will be) and 2. What will encompass the updates Its virtually impossible to predict when they'll be ready for shipment.
