Do you have a tattoo (or more than one)?
Do you hate them?
What do they represent in your eyes?
I was thinking about this while watching the NBA playoffs the past several days. What do tattoos say about a person? Do they say anything at all? I know people who have strong feelings about tattoos on both sides.
Discuss, infidels.

I don't want any identifying marks that I was not born with, but I don't mind other having them. I admire good work. I think many people don't think through what a tattoo will look like when they are old and starting to sag.
What say you Jawbone?
Can pastors have tattoos?

The problem with tattoos is, they're permanent.
The reason I don't have one is I planned to get several, only to thank Christ I hadn't gone through with it 'cos tastes change but tattoos don't.
'Course, there's laser surgery, but it's pricey.

My feelings on tattoos depends on the tattoo.
I don't feel that's covered in your poll.

I got one in 1995 but I am sick of it so I am going to cover it with something else eventually.

I used to think they were really cool, and actually almost got one when I was 18, but I always backed off at the last second. I don't like the idea of having something artificial placed on my body that I absolutely cannot get off (except through expensive and painful surgery).
I've seen tattoos that I've thought were cool for one reason or the other, but generally I've come to really, really dislike them. I'm especially glad that I didn't go ahead with the massive angel on my back.

There's one for every poll, isn't there?
I forgot to say that it might be cool if people who had tattoos would actually list what they have (and even post a picture, if they felt comfortable with that).
I also wish I hadn't put (Poll) in the thread title. I forgot it puts it there for you.

Massive angel? I went to a tattoo parlour to get the In Utero angel tattooed on by back. The tattoo guy said I was drunk (which was correct) and refused to do it.
Thank God.

Am I obligated to go on a Rob-like, profanity-laced rant? I've never done this before. Someone guide me through it.
Help?

I decided about fifteen years ago that I would eventually get a tattoo. And I probably will in the near future.

I really dig tattoos on chicks. Thats some hot stuff.
Tattoos on dudes? Meh, don't have an opinion one way or the other.
I've always wanted to get one, but my problem is that I'd only put a tattoo on my body that I designed myself. And I have yet to come up with anything worthwhile.

Same here. That I seem to have Frat Boy inclinations when it comes to getting one, which is a complete non-sequitur if you knew me in real life.
Honestly, I've never seen one of a chick that I liked. And the larger they the worse. They should be subtle, like perfume.

I like them but I don't have any for a couple of reasons.
I've worked with people who were in their 50s (or later) and had tattoos. Most of them were so blurry (the tattoos not the co-workers ) that you could barely make out what they were.
Plus a lot of the tattoos are so faddish, take the barbed wire, or tribal designs. They're no longer "in" so what do people do who have them.

I was looking for something similar at the time, actually. I was a huge Nirvana fan in my teenage years.
Responsible guy, sounds like. I don't think that's common practice, either. I had an acquaintance who became a youth pastor in his late twenties, but constantly had to explain that it was during his "rebellious stage" that he got his massive tattoo of two women practicing the act of cunnilingus (it covered his upper left arm). He kept it under wraps until he worked at a youth camp and had to stay in the dorm.

In my opinion, it depends on the meaning behind the tattoo(s). If it just some youth kick, then no, it's crap. When it begins to tell a life story, that's when they truly shine.

A tramp stamp rocks!
I want to get one of my cockatoo, Roxy, on my shoulder blade, but my girlfriend disapproves.

Tattoos are great for helping the police identify criminals, so I think of it as a law enforcement tool.

Got no tats. No intention of getting tats. Don't like women with tats.
Although I'll let Jessica Alba off if she gets a "property of Doofy" tat on the sole of her left foot.
I just think they're boring and a little conformist.

Tramp stamp/ass antlers area is sort of just about acceptable (as long as the girl is extremely hot). I hate arm/shoulder tats though. And boobie tats (as seen on "suicide girls")? That's just not right. Ought to carry a criminal defacement charge in federal law or something.

I guess what it boils down to is this: I'm sort of old-fashioned about some things, and I just don't like tats. I used to think they were cool, but I also used to think Jnco's were too.

What the bloody hell is wrong with people that they all want to live so close to each other? You find a property, book a viewing and go see it. Then it turns out that the only angle not included in the pics shows that the neighbours are literally twenty feet away.

Err, no. My tastes and interests change rapidly. Not going for anything permanent, as it's a virtual guarantee that I will later regret it. As far as other people, well there are tasteful tattoos and ones that never should have happened. That's true of many things, though. Full body tattoos are too much for me. It's too much for me if you even cover a whole limb or your back or something. And I'm not big on facial tattoos. Moderation!

It is at this point that certain morons amongst the population will decide to get a big bunch of facial tats. And quite possibly one of those stupid nose ring things. Or other face furniture.
Might as well have printed "I'm a retard" on their forehead in Desert Sun Yellow sharpie.
But rejoice, my fellow NNians, in the fact that you're all intelligent, good looking people and don't have to resort to such idiocy.

I guess I had a solar system on my nose and cheeks when I was young then. The planets and stars faded away as I got older.
