okay, so I was target practicing with my gun earlier today. Well I accidently shot my A/C and freon came shooting out along with it. Um...anyone know what to do? Do I have to replace the entire A/C unit or can the hose be fixed? I havent looked at it all the way through yet because its still shooting freon out.

Yes, I am an idiot. Thanks.

You're supposed to point AWAY from the A/C.

a) More frequent target practice.

or

b) Bigger targets.

Be nice people, we all do dumb things every once in a while...

Iran, I actually had to repair my A/C this last summer and found this instructional YouTube video pretty helpful:

A Rickroll? Really? Did this post get lost on its way to 2007? — C

Is this a normal occurrence in Mississippi? If this happened in my city it would be in the news.

A/C on at this time of year probably would make the news here. You'd be known as a crazy.

You shot the big unit on the outside or the hose going into it?

Either way, you are going to need a freon refill which is $200 bucks. If you shot the condenser outside, I don't really know, but my guess is that you are kind of screwed.

Why would you be shooting toward your home anyway???

My sig is 1 pixel too big.

For my house.

No this is not normal for Mississippi.. Well shooting your gun is normal. Everyone has one so its normal to hear a gun fire off at least once a day. Although we are hunters and in the woods mostly.

I shot the big unit on the outside I wasn't shooting toward my home believe it or not. I was shooting at a 90 and when I shot, the bullet hit something to make it ricochet and then I heard a hissing sound like a hoseline and freon was shooting out of the unit. I'll post pics when it's light. I work a double tomorrow so I'll be home Friday to update. Sorry.

I was wondering why someone would be shooting at things with a home or car in the line of sight but a ricochet makes it a whole different situation.
Call your AC guy to look at it. I wouldn't mess around with it unless you know something about fixing units.

Think you could bag me a fridge/freezer combo with an ice-maker on your next hunt?

Splatter some red paint around it and tell him he'd "better fix it right this time."

At least he shot his AC and not his wife...

True story - this last Saturday, this guy accidentally shot his wife and killed her.

http://www.omaha.com/index.php?u_pag...u_sid=10553228

And take a look at the last entry the wife put in their blog on the Wednesday before she was shot.

http://www.mywedding.com/joshuaandal...ost_18436.html

Some of the pics in the blog make you wonder. Who points a gun at someone? Even if it's unloaded, you always treat a gun as if it is. This is a sad story and this guy will never be the same again. He'll always carry the guilt that he killed his wife.

Could I have some more info please?

Gun, load, calibre, etc etc. Makes a big difference if we're talking .22 or .45-70 for example.

This is why target practice is best left to the shooting range, not your backyard.

If I had a couple acres it would be far safer to shoot then at our "range" which is basically a hillside in the national forrest... I would have thought colorado would have more public ranges but boulder county is full of a bunch of gun hating hippies...

I would love to be able to shoot in my backyard if I had the ability and the distance.
