Ya so, they still changed it after showing it in normal form. Against everyones wishes.
Also Starfox was originally Dinosaur planet for N64, they then canceled it, slapped starfox in it and made it a GameCube launch title.

agreed. Nintendo said they've been working on a Zelda sequel for GC for a while now. that and they showed us nothing about Revolution so i doubt its for that.

i don't know where you're getting this stuff about slapping Starfox on it. it was ALWAYS a starfox game, even when they were making it for N64.
yes, they changed the art style, but not at the last minute. they gave us what, 2, 3 years warning?

The only thing lacking in that video, in my opinion was the sounds/music. Sounded liek something from the N64. I hope they get the boston Pops to make the sound track for the game. i got a "Legend of Zelda" tune that they performed, and it would fit that visual style perfectly.
Apart for resident Evil 4, i think those were the best graphics ive ever seen.... environments, lighting effects, character detail, textures, animation(although it did look a bit choppy in places), and the shading style is unbeleivable....it definately retained it's fantasy/childish/unreal element which i respect.

Those are usually added last. What you heard in the demo is probably not what will be in the final game.

Nintedo's music has always sounded a bit spotty. They seem to like that MIDI sounding stuff. I thought with the gamecube they would break that mold but all the inhouse Nintendo games still sound so dinkey when others have done amazing things.
Believe it or not there are still space concerns with the GameCube. On Prince of Persia the music on the GC version is more compressed next to the PS2 and XBOX and it sounds dinkey.

Metroid Prime's music was entirely MIDI, and it sounds badass. i'm not sure if Wind Waker is MIDI, but its awesome too.

Metriod was better you're right but wind walker was so so. The quality is still nothing close as to what factor 5 does with the gamecube.
Also, the lack of voices in the cut scenes of Zelda was hugely disappointing. Space concerns again.
So when do you guys think we will see Zelda, I don't think it will be till mid/late next year. No way will it get here for Christmas with Nintendos record.

well of course. i'm sure Retro is using the Metroid Prime engine for Echoes, updating it slightly, and its a given that Nintendo's new Zelda engine will be better.

Two years. That's how long I give it.
They've tried to shrink a PlayStation, and -unfortunately for them- succeeded. They're in for a rude awakening when they find out how different the portable market is from the console market.

Two years to overtake gameboy? Sounds reasonable.

Nope, he's is as large as ever. Nice try though, if you look at my previous comments on Zelda you will see my say the cell shading is the best looking Zelda ever and it was my favorite of all the Zeldas.

Exactly what I said was wrong: they tried to shrink a PlayStation.
The major thing the PS (and PS2) have going for them is their huge, sprawling RPGs with hour-long FMV sequences. Those work great on a console, but do not translate well into the portable market. This isn't to say that RPCs don't work in portables -they do- but it's a very different design philosophy. How do I know it's going to die? Because I heard the announcement to port Metal Gear Solid, just as you did. A great game and a great series, but there's a reason that Ghost Babel failed on the GBC.
Basically, Sony is trying to shoehorn a 30-inch system into a 6-inch screen, much as Sega (Game Gear), NEC (TurboExpress), Atari (Lynx), SNK (NGPC), and Bandai (WonderSwan) all tried to do before them. All had technically superior hardware to the Game Boys of the time, and the PSP is no different in that regard, but good hardware isn't enough. That is why they failed; it's not that they didn't have good games and hardware, it's that they didn't have good portable games and hardware.
This is the one thing that Nintendo understands which they never have: the portable market is different. No one who doesn't treat it as such will ever be able to unseat Nintendo.

Then why such a wonderful thing that it's gone? I mourn for Nintendo's going back to the classic PPLQ graphics, frankly; I want to see more experimentation with style, and WW was one of the best examples of that.

Exactly. I can play on an old gameboy a really long time on 1 set of batteries. Would I have played the Zelda and Metroid games if I had to recharge every 6 hours? No way! 2 years and it will be cancelled. See my above post, you think they can squeeze anything else into it???

The more I played Wind Waker the better it became. Too bad I couldnt finish the game! At the very end too... Oh well, maybe my friend will let me borrow it when he comes up this weekend. The new Zelda does look cool though!

I assume they just want to do something different or they really want to shake that kiddy image. Perhaps enough people also bitched.
If I just heard that the cell shading was gone I would be disappointed but by the look of the new one I really like the darker feel but only because the advanced graphics make it look convincing.

I disagree, this is the same kind of rhetoric people used to argue that Sony could never succeed in gaming back when they released the PlayStation in 1995. We'll see how it turns out, but I've learned not to underestimate them. They do have considerable experience with portable electronics (not video games though, true) and should be able to leverage that somewhat. They understand the game industry well and will be able to leverage that. It's not just RPGs that make their platform popular, in fact GTA and Gran Turismo are probably bigger franchises than FF now. Besides -- FF-like RPGs can succeed on a portable system, just in a different form.
