These ads seem to be targeted at the iPod crowd.

I liked them, but the audio is a bit to mumbly to me toward the end unless the volume is up REALLY loud.

Very true he does have a Steve look to him, and I noticed the similarity between Gate's face and the PC.

I think the campain is going to be great. Most people believe anything they see on TV, so now Mac's really are better, in the mainstream.
With some loud music + a friend to chat nearby you can get alot done. - but jezz, I'd avoid it if I had the choice---- If only real people came with Alpha Channels.......:)

I think they are great.

They really aren't meant for you and I... they are designed to bring the people from the PC world over.

This just fuels the PC-using public's perception of Apple as being creative, but not serious. Different, but the wrong kind of different. I can't believe an ad agency thought that kid would make a good model for Apple, and I can't believe Apple okayed it. What a wasted opportunity...
I couldn't disagree more.

I feel it conveyed the "a computer for the rest of us" feel that Apple is all about. I don't know about you, but I could relate... Also, the actor is in his late twenties... that's the iPod zone + or - 10 years. I'm sure they are trying to hook on to the iPod generation.

Hooking into the iPod is a good thing.

I remember that Justin Long dude more from Dodgeball than his other stuff. He played such a goofy dork in that movie. In these ads he's all cool and hip. But I think both actors do a great job. They seem as if their dialog is off the cuff. It all comes off as being very natural, which lends to the comedic aspect of it.

I showed them all to people I work with, and everyone loved them. Even a few of our die hard PC guys really liked them. They all got a good chuckle and some said they did a great job at communicating in the simplest terms the major differences between the two platforms.

I think they will be successful. And yes, there will be many many many parodies. But as they say, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. So bring em on!

Not bad, as far as ads go. I like them a lot better than the "Switch" ads, if nothing else. I gotta say that "Virus" was the better... I almost audibly laughed when the PC "crashed."

And yes, just for the record: I am fairly similar to the audience Apple seems to be targeting in these ads: the 20-something year old college student/graduate.

Any ramblings are entirely my own, and do not represent those of my employers, coworkers, friends, or species

I think they should run an ad with the Mac guy by himself introducing "PC guy running Windows Vista" and then kinda looking around until someone off stage yells "He said he's running a little late!"

I agree with you. Unless their research might tell them, for example, that those images appeal to the audience MOST LIKELY to switch RIGHT NOW or maybe those are the people who are the best SEEDS.

The people who influence the largest numbers of people who do make the purchases or WILL as they grow older.

Who knows?

I haven't seen the spots. I haven't seen the research.

I didn't find these ads to be that greatt. But don't you think this is putting a huge target on Steve Jobs' back by all pc hackers/virus makers especially now that Apple is using the intel chip?

No links to the new ads on Apple.com from what I can see or find.

the funniest part is they had a guy that looked like bill gates play the PC

Notice how they never said "we don't get viruses" or any language alluding to that. They were just stating facts.

Excellent. If the campaign takes off, & 10.5 beats Vista to market, that'd be a freakin' hilarious way of introducing it.

I like the ads. Networking & Viruses are the best, WSJ is a little weak.

That would certainly be a good ad if Leopard beats Vista.. that said anyone wonder if Vista is being delayed so that they can copy Leopard features? I imagine now's a bit late for that... but...

Ad #2 (follow up to the 1st ad) if Leopard beats Vista to market:

Run an ad with the Mac guy by himself saying "I'm a Mac with the new Mac OS 10.5.. and this, finally, is PC guy running Windows Vista" . PC guy comes out wearing the same clothes/outfit (of course, not fitting exactly right) as Mac guy and says, "Sorry I'm late, but I had a few things I had to, um, catch up with..." Mac guy looks PC guy up and down, while just shaking his head. While Mac guy is doing this, PC guy is tring to imitate everything he does, but just doesn't do it well.
The picture fades out and the Apple logo shows up with PC guy as a voice over asking, "So... what are you wearing tomorrow?"
"It's weird the way 'finger puppets' sounds ok as a noun..."

Of course you won't like it. You are not a Mac hater.

This comic points out that Mac users enjoy security through being on the fringe, partially.
