Makes sense, when everyone has an older iDevice in a drawer that can serve as an iPod without cell service...

my orig ipod still works.

Sadly, my orig iPod went belly-up ages ago. My 2nd gen Shuffle, though, is still kicking. It remains the perfect lawn-mowing music machine.

Still have my 5th gen nano watch. Used to listen to the radio with it, ‘til all the stations went Top 40…

I’ve got a Shuffle 1G still lying around with mp3s of test tones on it I use as a tone generator.

Friend of mine is very sad. He doesn’t want to “cross the streams” and has both an iPhone (with plenty of storage) and an iPod Touch.

To be fair, the iPod has a headphone jack.

What a run. I had a second-gen 20 GB iPod, probably the most expensive iPod ever made. I loved, loved, loved that thing and kept it until the headphone jack broke. The first-gen nano I got after that was also equally loved. This was Steve Jobs' Apple at its best.
I don't suffer from insanity, I enjoy every minute of it.

I really loved the shuffle when I used it as a music player. Made a smart playlist mostly based on number of plays and (appropriately enough) put it on shuffle. The lack of a GUI didn’t bother me, and I liked it being bigger than the 2G.

That, and my original 2G were my favorites.

The iPod makes me think of buying Apple stock before OSX for like $13/share.

Yeah… not quite pre-OSX, but 2001ish I thought I should buy a ton of Apple stock, but of course I didn’t.

Along those lines of missed opportunities, and I’m not not making this up, about 10 years ago I told myself “I should invest in hand sanitizer manufacturers”.

I remember one time on a bus to uni when my 20 gig iPod was quite new, this other kid had another harddrive-based mp3 player, but one with a 2.5” notebook harddrive. He made a point of playing with it in front of me, feeling pretty smug — until I took my iPod out of my pocket to change a song and put it back.

I remember someone telling me how much of a fool I was for having an iPod when I could get a Creative Zen.

I bought $3000 worth in 2000 or so.

Released titanium powerbook. Didn't move.

Released iPod. Didn't move.

Release OSX. Didn't move.

Didn't do shit for years, sold at $27/share, doubled my money.

I think this is worse than not buying it at all. Oh well.
