i currently have the Gozilla of the MacBook Pro Line...
It has the 160gig drive.
I need help though.
i am just now getting into Digital Artwork and such, and the drive is nearly full.
I would like a larger drive.
Does anyone know what is the fastest largest internal laptop drive that is out there that will work with my MacBook Pro?

why dont you keep that drive and get an external drive for you media. its not efficient to just have an internal drive maxed out or even very full for that matter, if your doing digital media work.

if your doing intense stuff think about maybe a RAID setup.

if you just want more space a simple FW800 EXT. HD,

if you dont want have to deal with all the cables and annoyances of another drive get a lacie mini drive that is usb bus powered and up to 120GB i think.

is also a pain in the neck to switch the drive in the mbp. external is the way to go. plus i think the biggest you can fit is 200, although a 300 is maybe here?

i agree. get a second external HDD and keep your sutff on that also.

I got an external WD 160GB USB drive and it's great. Not as fast as firewire, but very tiny and easy to carry with me.

Tails Too what drive is that?
what type of drive?

i basically have a ton of files, mostly audio and picture files that i am working on and am runing out of space.
i also burn dvds to my drive to watch at different occasions.
i currently have a huge external at home that i use for backups that is firewire that i can also boot off of, so i do not have to have a powered one. i though am looking for something small and poertable. preferably something with either no external power supply or a very small one.
that being said people are reccomending a westerndigital small external. i have seen them in silver and in black and they powered via usb... what is the difference?

i think that at this point may be better to do a portable external instead of going though the headache of exchanging the internal.

What if you get your MBP ripped off? then what you gonna do?

Keep the important work backed up on data DVD's and use an external
drive. COstco had the 500 gig WD fw/usb 2.0 drive for ridiculous cheap, like $170? $200? something like that.

Then keep the files you need to travel with on your internal.

The self-powered are nice but too small for $ vs. gig.

i understand everything that you are saying, but that does not answer the external drive to go with me because of the fact that my main drive is nearly full. i have a huge backup drive at home., and am running out of space on my internal MPB drive. i basically need more space and have decided not to go the route of the internal drive and all of the hassles with that.

With 500GB drives below $150 (no rebates or special promos), that sounds about right.

That Samsung isn't a laptop drive. It's a desktop drive.
