Hi,

I am starting up a club at my university. We have named it "The Lounge" and the club is for cigar smokers and other things that are high quality and classy. I am trying to come up with a good logo. I am thinking about including this as part as the logo:

or, if that image above doesn't work, go to http://tinypic.com/cyac

(I added a watermark on top of it and lowered the quality quite a bit, as there are some competing cigar clubs that have tried to take my image.)

Anyways - Have any ideas how to make a good logo - where should "The Lounge" go around it? Should the Est. 2004 part go somewhere else? Is that even an appropriate logo?

What font should I use? (I have access to Font Folio at my University if needed) It needs to be classy.

Any quick mockups would be appreciated as well if anyone has some time to kill.

Thanks again!

Well, if circular is your idea, than the most obvious would be to have "The Lounge" curve over the top and est. 2004 curve under the bottom. But that is pretty basic. You might use the typography off to the side or belowso the circle "mark" is more independent.

Type wise I would go with a thick blocky font if you want something "manly" but an elegant serif would be "clubbish" I would not use a futuristic sans serif unless you wanted to connote young and hip (the logo and the idea of cigars and college students is more retro than hip). I think ricky ricardo and bowling/cabana shirts more than skateboards and latte's

That retro image reminds me of Michael Schwab's work- take a look
