I was running 10.1.5 and it ran like a dream, sleeping perfectly and waking instantly, I used sleep all the time, walking to and from class and at night. Well, I just did a completely fresh install of 10.2.3 (which other than this probalem, I love!) and am disappointed to see sleep not working at all! After it goes to sleep, it will not wake up! It sounds like the computer is still on, but it refuses to wake up, and i've waited a good 10 minutes after prompting it.

Any similar problems, sleep is a crucial function for me and I need it working properly.

Thanks.

Sleep under 10.2.3 works as you described it did under 10.1.5. I haven't had any (knock on wood) problems yet. I really don't know what to say...

Well, I've been testing it the last few days, and it seems that if I put it to sleep myself and wake it up within about 30 seconds, it wakes back up correctly. Buy if I wait longer than that, or let energy saver put it to sleep, it won't wake back up.

Very frustrating.

No sleep problem with my iBook (500Mhz). I use it tens of times a day, (I simply close the lid) and it works perfectly...

Do you get a panic log in /Library/Logs ?

Jetta_gt, I'm getting the same problem as you (different computer though). I didn't put my Powerbook to sleep all day for fear that I would have to reboot to start it up again. Not only does the display not wake up from sleep, but when I reboot the system the display doesn't work unless I reboot the system like 5 times.

It's EXTREMELY annoying and I don't know how to fix it.

And pat++, no, there are no panic logs in /Library/Logs or ~/Library/Logs.

Okay, I've had similar problems in past. I am not sure whether this had to do with OS version or hardware wear. I think I've first had it 5 months back. I had to do power unit reset to fix this. This problem has been discussed extensively on Apple support pages in discussion sections.

In anycase, apple info on power unit reset can be found by typing "Power unit reset on iBook" in www.support.apple.com.

direct quote from apple knowledge base article:
"Over time, the settings in the Power Manager may become unusable, which can result in operational anomalies with the computer. Examples would be not turning on, not waking from sleep, not charging the battery, or not seeing the AC Adapter, among others. "

So as stated above, try reseting the PMU. Hope that it works.

Been there, done that, resetting the PMU does nothing.

So as stated above, try reseting the PMU. Hope that it works. [/B]

Try turning off (unchecking) the "Wake for administrator access" option in the Energy Saver preference pane. This cured the problem on my iBook SE, and appears to have cured it on my Powerbook also.
