MacPlay, a new Mac game publishing company whose 2001 lineup includes Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amn, Sacrifice, and Giants: Citizen Kabuto, is asking for Mac users to e-mail the company at [email protected] with requests for the games they would like to see ported to the Mac.
The above appeared on the front page of macnn... and I immediately thought Half Life. I have already e-mailed them telling them that I feel Half Life should be ported over to the Macintosh. Anyone else agree with me? It would be great if tons of mac users expressed interest in this. And if Macplay could get their hands on the source from the last group that tried to port Half Life, it would probably take very little time to complete.

YES! I never even thought of that! That's a great idea. I just gave my e-mail to [email protected]. Everyone else should too. They could make so much money off of it, and they know it. They just need some reassurance for those corporate people to get behind the venture, so everyone e-mail away!

I'll go for Half-Life, too! Even though Sierra's a b@stard, I still have hope for HL or HL2.

There is even less chance of getting Counterstrike for mac anyway, you would be asking a lot I would say.

I mailed them 10 times from 10 different email addresses
Counterstrike it is, or NHL 200x.

You'd probably have a better chance of getting Tribes 2 ported... ho well, it doesn't hurt to ask...

Half-Life Mac beta has been floating around for ages. They stopped dev'ing it. If they wanted to, it could be out in a few months.
They obviously think its a bit too old and has too small a market now, no thanks to their hesitation to release it initially.
Oh well.

Is the beta build on Hotline? How can I get it? (I know it isn't proper to talk about it here, but I'm desperate!) Half-Life for Mac is something I'd love to play in person.

Hmmm... I thought a different company was the one to start porting it. Otherwise, I never would have e-mailed Macplay in the first place. If it was indeed a different company, then there is a chance, however small it might be.

If I'm thinking of the correct game, half life was in late beta when they killed it.
If they got that code and did it for OS9, it could be out in 2 months.
We need games in X though too.

I really couldn't care less.
I've got nothing to prove to you.

Half-life will never be made for Mac. The company that makes it started to in 1999 and was set to be released in september of '99. Because it was being made for the Mac, they had to omit certain features and the company did not want to be known for creating a watered down game.
