I have several questions about CVS on Panther.

(1) Is /usr/bin/cvs - version 1.10 - the latest and greatest CVS, the one which came with XTools? (I can't get to http://www.cyclic.com/ or http://ccvs.cvshome.org/ to check.)

(2) What's the following error mean? From my 'net searches it seems to mean I'm using an obsolete client, hence the first question.

% cvs -d :ssh:[email protected]:/cvs co
cvs checkout: unknown method in CVSroot: :ssh:[email protected]:/cvs
cvs [checkout aborted]: Bad CVSROOT.

Okay, I can answer the second part myself (for the record).

In searching around the 'net today I found a note saying that instead of the canonical

setenv CVS_RSH ssh

line in your .login file one should supply a complete path to ssh, as in /usr/bin/ssh. This is wrong! It must be as shown above. FYI.
