I have been recently experiencing a large increase in space required by a Time Machine backup volume, and I have been trying to figure out what's causing it, so I can make sure I don't run out of space. Does anyone know of a way to visualize where/when in backups new data is published?

As an example:

March 3, 2008 - 100GB utilization
March 10, 2008 - 100GB utilization
March 17, 2008 - 120GB utilization (new data stored in folders X,Y,Z)

If I know this information, I might find out that certain groups of files are all considered updated and re-archived. If I'm comfortable with it, I could delete the pre-updated archived files. Let's say it happened to be music that was an issue. Perhaps I have 30GB across my whole series of time machine backups, but, iTunes or a tagging software changes the files every month. Now, after 10 months, I'd have 300GB of files stored. This is in contrast to perhaps some excel workbooks that don't change often and use just the space that the files need.

Ideas or thoughts?
