You should really think about allowing that word in the Pol Lounge, it gets impossible to describe politicians sometimes without it. Sort of like trying to drive with your middle finger amputated -- I don't think I could do it. )
He certainly qualifies and his statement about Romney's father is the nail in his bedroom door at the asylum. Not to mention the fact that all this feigned consternation is about low-to-zero tax rates under an Administration comprised of former and current tax-cheating cabinet members and two economic advisory panels full of outsourcers, tax loopholers, and job-cutters.

Look at it this way: Reid claims to have a single anonymous source for his claim that Romney may have paid no taxes for 10 years. If there were two anonymous sources, that would be legitimate news for every news agency in the world.

Deep Throat was a single anonymous source which ultimately removed a President. Anonymous sources are the constitutional-protected staple of the free press in the USA. Let's not suggest that anonymous sources are somehow no good.

I have an anonymous source that Obama blows coke every night, has child slaves in the WH, and consistently uses taxpayer money on prostitutes and contract murders.

Not saying who he is though.

To which I say, in the greatest of irony, that if Romney has nothing to hide, why not release the returns? Come now. Given the way that people are still dogging the birth certificate issue, I can't see why the other side can't have a chance to be blindly obstinate.

His loud protestation seems unbecoming his position. I wouldn't say it's batshit crazy, but it's crazy. Speaking of crazy:

Reid served as chairman of the Nevada Gaming Commission from 1977 to 1981. When Jack Gordon, LaToya Jackson's future agent and husband, offered Reid a $12,000 bribe to approve new games for casinos, Reid brought in the FBI to tape Gordon's bribery attempt and arrest him. After FBI agents interrupted the transaction as prearranged, Reid lost his temper and began choking Gordon, saying "You son of a bitch, you tried to bribe me!" Gordon was convicted in 1979 and sentenced to six months in prison
Amazing.

Reid also gave up his law license so he couldn't be dis-barred for some of his corrupt BS.

Couple of problems here;

Reid will not release his own tax returns. He's filed financial disclosures just like Romney. Reid claims that you can't even be a secretary in the White House without publicly filing tax returns and yet, he's not submitted a single tax return his entire career. Romney has released two of them. Does Reid not want you to see how much his residence at the Ritz Carlton is costing?

Simply put, Reid is an accessory to a crime. If he's got credible evidence that Romney paid no taxes for ten years, he's obligated as a servant of the public to put up or shut up. Reid can stop all of this nonsense by providing his sources and reporting this, not just to the American public in a hit and run accusation to influence an election, but to the necessary oversight authority -- the IRS. If there's a crime, Reid is covering it up. If there isn't a crime, what's all the voyeurism about and why no interest in Reid's returns? Shouldn't we know whether or not Reid himself is a credible witness? Is this sitting congressman openly slandering a Presidential candidate in an attempt to hijack an election? This is all pretty damning stuff and we have a right to know.

I keep hearing about how every prior Presidential candidate has offered their tax returns and yet... has this ever been an effective means of gauging leadership or integrity? Think about it. There's the "change" you were looking for.

The hope should be in a different economic strategy.

You're overstating your case here, eBuddy. The one smart thing that Reid has done is that he's never actually come out and said that Romney has done anything illegal. He has said that he heard that there was a 10-year period where Romney hasn't paid taxes. It's a big distinction, and perhaps the only thing that Reid has done here that makes any sense at all.

He wants folks to believe (whether or not it's true) that a multi-millionaire can find perfectly legal loopholes to pay zero taxes. The Democrats still want to repeal the Bush tax cuts on high earners. Reid wants folks to believe that these tax cuts are giving rich people a free ride, starting with the Rich People candidate for President. He wants people to think that the reason why Romney is taking his position on taxes is that it benefits him personally.

You see? This way it's a lot more damaging than simply saying he's a crook. Whether or not it's true. But it feels like it could be true, doesn't it? It looks like the Democrats have been taking lessons on Truthiness.

Reid has shared his anonymous source with CNN already. But no one is gonna share the name with the public. No one shares anonymous sources, especially the news media.

Then IMO, Reid's statements have no credibility.

Nobody asked him to share it with the public or the news media. I said he needs to do better than that by his constituency. If he were interested in any semblance of justice (which he should as a representative sworn to uphold it), he'd have quietly reported this directly to the authorities for them to investigate; not every man, woman, and child with a television set. Let the forum know when the investigation begins. Otherwise, Reid is accusing Romney for Reid's tax returns... which remain maliciously concealed in a vault somewhere in his spiffy digs at the Ritz Carlton.

Although, I'm beginning to think Reid protests too much. He's really putting himself out for Obama and I hope Obama appreciates it.

Other than the fact that he can't really report it to the authorities (because I don't think it was illegal), I agree with you 100%. The Senate Majority Leader has no business pulling crap like this. If he wanted it out so badly, he could have his "source" anonymously talk to the Media themselves.

If Romney wins this thing, but the Democrats manage to hold on to the Senate, how much work do you think will get done between the two of them?

Not too much, but then... a brief perusal of history will find that our economy for example typically fares better under opposing powers. That's the way the system was designed. I don't believe a "busy" government is a very good thing and had there been opposing powers to begin with, the albatross hanging over the neck of our economy would not have happened.

I did a bit of reading up on Bryan Fisher, and yes, he's a loon. But I'm not sure how much actual traction his views have to people outside his little circle of hate. Based on a cursory Google search, I rate him at only about .46 Bachmanns. (Harry's at about .8 right now.)

You give Reid that high a mark? I take his actions as calculated dirty pool, not hysterical willy-nilly accusations.

Fischer, on the other hand, is advocating the illegal kidnapping of children because he's uncomfortable with the sexual orientation of the parents, and even though no conclusive proof backs up his claim that such homes are bad for children. That's some hard self-denial.

You keep ignoring the real issue: this serial tax avoidance is legal, which makes it worse, not better. This issue isn't "Romney broke the law," but "the laws are written to favour the mega-rich like Romney."

...and from a guy campaigning to more tax cuts for people in his position. If they got released, they would either undermine his credibility and hopefully demonstrate to the country how good those at top really have it when filing.

I get this. Where I get confused is the feigned outrage over the tax code as if it's a cigar-chomping Republican fat-cat contrivance. When considering the amount of hedging and sheltering going on throughout this Administration, it's awfully McCarthy-esque of Reid and laughably hypocritical.

Hard rock band Megadeth front-man Dave Mustaine does not like President Barack Obama.

Mustaine, who has asserted that Obama’s birth certificate is fake, added to his repertoire during an August 7 concert in Singapore, accusing the president of staging mass killings in Colorado and Wisconsin as part of a secret plot to seize Americans’ guns. According to TMZ, Mustaine:

… told the crowd, “Back in my country, my president … he’s trying to pass a gun ban, so he’s staging all of these murders, like the ‘Fast And Furious’ thing down at the border … Aurora, Colorado, all the people that were killed there … and now the beautiful people at the Sikh temple.”

He continued, “I don’t know where I’m gonna live if America keeps going the way it’s going because it looks like it’s turning into Nazi America.”
According to the New York Daily News, the 50-year-old rocker served as an MTV correspondent from the 1992 Democratic convention, but claims he changed his political views after quitting drugs and alcohol and becoming a born-again Christian.

Another worthwhile entry!

http://www.chron.com/news/houston-te...ar-3807672.php

A Lubbock County, Texas, judge is asking for a tax increase to hire deputies for the inevitable civil war he believes would follow President Obama's re-election.

The way he puts it, Judge Tom Head wants to prepare for the "worst", which to him means "civil unrest, civil disobedience" and possible "civil war", according to a report from Fox 34 Lubbock

Judge Tom Head and Commissioner Mark Heinrich told the station this week that a 1.7 cent tax increase for the next fiscal year was necessary to prepare for many contingencies, including Obama's re-election. He also mentioned to the station that the county needs a pay increase is needed for the district attorney's office and more funds to pay for more sheriff's office deputies.

"He's going to try to hand over the sovereignty of the United States to the (United Nations), and what is going to happen when that happens?," Head asked the station during a Monday interview. "I'm thinking the worst. Civil unrest, civil disobedience, civil war maybe. And we're not just talking a few riots here and demonstrations, we're talking Lexington, Concord, take up arms and get rid of the guy."

Head also seems to fear the retaliation of such civil unrest.

"Now what's going to happen if we do that, if the public decides to do that? He's going to send in U.N. troops. I don't want 'em in Lubbock County. OK. So I'm going to stand in front of their armored personnel carrier and say 'you're not coming in here'.

"And the sheriff, I've already asked him, I said 'you gonna back me' he said, 'yeah, I'll back you'. Well, I don't want a bunch of rookies back there. I want trained, equipped, seasoned veteran officers to back me."

More from the law:

http://boston.cbslocal.com/2012/08/2...top-abortions/
A man running for sheriff in New Hampshire says if he is elected, he will arrest anyone involved in an abortion in his county.

Frank Szabo set off a firestorm with the comments. People on all sides of the political spectrum have condemned the statements, but Szabo stands by them. He says it’s the sheriff’s job to protect every citizen – even the unborn.

He took it a step further when asked how far he’d go to stop one.

“Deadly force is the last thing law enforcement should be using, if a citizen’s life is in danger they should be protected,” says Szabo. “If there is no other choice, that’s what’s needed to protect the citizen.”

Republicans called Szabo’s statement, “Irresponsible, outrageous, and inappropriate.”

...

Szabo isn’t backing down.

He says, “Why is there a difference between someone who is 20 years old and their life is in danger and someone who is nine months in utero.”

Not so much batshit as ignorant on Bachmann's part.

I live a few blocks from that synagogue. This neighborhood is known as "Boystown". It's the "aggressive homosexuality welcomed" neighborhood.

People apparently stormed out and donated to her opponent.

She showed up. The rabbi pointed her out, as apparently he does with any public figure, and the congregation complained.

The problem is one of "know your audience." I'm curious as to why she chose that venue.

I can kind of see the Chicago part being stupid since she's not running there (but then again should it make her presence less political?) but I'm not quite ready to endorse her entire existence being an affront to decency wholesale.

Is there a congregation out there that would protest, if say, Nancy Pelosi attended? regardless of faith? yep.

Consider the demographics of the congregation. Gay friendly vs someone who is not.

Now imagine the results if a KKK member congressman attended a black church.

You find that along with the culture of death go all kinds of other law-breaking: not following good sanitary procedure, giving abortions to women who are not actually pregnant, cheating on taxes, all these kinds of things, misuse of anesthetics so that people die or almost die.
What does it say if this guy gets re-elected?
