I still use a G4 1.07 iBook in the kitchen, and a couple of G4 iMacs as infrequently used surfing machines elsewhere. (My primary surfers are my Intel Macs and my 7" tablet.)

What do you recommend for web browsing on G4s? All my G4 machines are running 10.5.8 and I find Safari sometimes feels bloated. I'm currently running Camino. I do have TenFourFox loaded, but Camino seems peppier esp. with its built-in "Block Flash Animations" feature.

Any other recommendations for browsers other than Camino? Note that Chrome only supports Intel.

I use TenFourFox, but on a G5 Quad. I found it slow on an older G4.

You might benchmark iCab, Stainless, or OmniWeb on your G4s. All still support PPC.

You can install Flashblock on TenFourFox to block autostarting Flash.
The new Mac Pro has up to 30 MB of cache inside the processor itself. That's more than the HD in my first Mac. Somehow I'm still running out of space.

What's wrong with Camino? It's my main browser on a i7 iMac running 10.8.1, it is stable and gives me no grief ever. Enjoy it, there is nothing as basic and reliable.

I'm almost tempted to install Linux on the G4, but then I read pages like this that make it seem like a major headache:
