Accessing HD through AEBS causes Loss Signal

So, I have a AEBS and it has a 1TB WD MyBook External drive hooked up to it . . . .

every time I try to connect to my external drive, my wireless cuts out and I have to unplug and plug my AEBS to get the signal back

has anyone else had this problem and if so, how did you fix it?

Have you applied the AP Utility and firmware updates?
