I was surfing today over at http://del.icio.us/
and got so impressed by the overall look of a movabletype weblog I ended up registering there and downloading the free version.

The free version has no support but support can be accessed via the forum site, its kind of strange though although there is a post entitled Installing movabletype, there is actually no actual information posted there about installing movabletype ?

Have I already commited a foopah ?

Hey its an open source software package, aw no I've been feigning these things ever since I became aware of them.

So whats next ?

I would suggest pmachine free.

http://www.pmachine.com

it's more simple to install and there are forums for it. Also I think there was a guide to install pmachine in a macworld and even has a nice little posting app only for the mac

http://www.pmachine.com/pmpost/

if this is your first blogging experience, look around there are a lot more. wordpress is another easier to use blogging system

moveabletype is robust and has a huge plugin following but to get your feet wet look around first.

i set up movable type on my site [ http://mike.cosentino.com ] over the weekend. i moved from blogger, i wanted more freedom. i exported all my blogger posts, imported them into mt, and then got to work on learning the ins and outs of mt's template tags. i am very happy with it, i have it working nicely. i got some nice plug ins. the drop cap (first letter of latest post is big) and markdown (i use it for the easy to type urls).

No, it's not open source. Read the various licenses here. If you're looking for open source software you should check out wordpress and textpattern; plus I'm sure there are a whole host of other. There are comparisions here.

Hey Yeh !

Wordpress ,

thanks this seems closer to my learningcurve

but I somehow have to leapfrog my fears of Terminal and OpenSource,

although I've known I should aready be in there

Like terminal, what an apt app name/description/meaningful word

is there a code/command checker that I should run to correct what

I type in there ?

but hey wait a minute I'm confused are my assumptions correct,

especially after reading this ?

are you going to run it on your computer or have someone host it?

I never had to startup terminal to install wordpress.
