Hello all, I heard somewhere that you can upgrade the processor on this machine, is that true, and if so is it pretty easy and where do I get the processor from ? I am good and upgradeing PC computers so I think that this should be fairly easy if I can do it.
thanks for the info in advance.

I've upgraded lots of macs this way, when I was younger I would buy old powermacs at garage sales and put new processors in them since it was cheaper than buying a new computer. All you do is open the case, pop out the old processor and put in the new one. I don't know about your computer specifically, but I never even needed a screwdriver.

733 Titanium? Are you referring to a laptop, or a desktop? There never was a 773mhz Titanium machine.

That is what is says on the back it says PowerMac G4 733, the model is M5183 I just thought it was a Titanium, I am new to the Mac World and that is what was told about the machine, do you know more about this model #, I searched the Internet, and came up with 3 names Quicksilver, Audio something or other, and Titanium, I really would like to know which one I have, how can I tell, all I see is the model number that I listed above, and when I go to "About this Mac" I see that it says 733 MHz PowerPc G4 1mb L3 cache.
please help if anyone can.

Here is a link to an Apple page with the specs for that computer. I know someone who haas one just like it and it is a very good stable machine. With a good single 1.2GHz upgrade CPU it should last a few years for ordinary tasks, and running Tiger it will also have Classic capability if you need that.
Best regards

If the case has a blue face, it's a "Digital Audio." If it has a silver face, it's a "Quicksilver." Titanium was only ever used with Apple's laptop line.
Digital Audio, Quicksilver, and Titanium PowerBook respectively.

That's right. There were also non-Digital audio G4s with blue faces, but none were 733, in case some don't know.
