Hello - I am a iMac newbie. I'm accessing a website that has links to documents. When I select a link, instead of opening the document, it automatically downloads to my desktop. This occurs even when I right-click and select "Open Link in New Window".

Is this an OS issue or a Safari issue? Is there a way to have the link launch and open in a new window? (The documents are normal doc, xls, ppt, txt, pdf)

I don't think you will be able to get .doc, .xls, or .ppt files to open in Safari (or any browser other the Explorer for windows), but I have no problem opening .txt files in any browser on my powerbook, but there is a browser plugin for opening .pdf files (search for it on macupdate). Also, I think that with Acrobat Reader 7, there is an option to view .pdf files in the browser. Personally, I don't enjoy opening .pdfs in a browser.

there's a word .doc plugin available (I think from SchubertIT as well) which is pretty handy.
