That tagline on that poster is horrible. Apple wouldn't put out a lame ass line like "Many abilities". Also, the kerning is too tight. Typesetting looks like poop.
And so it shows that the video screen has the numbers on it to dial, so what is that big blank space down below the screen for?
I give this a D-

Only Apple would make a cell phone with no screen.

The bottom section is supposed to be a touch pad.... which is just dumb. If they did do that, it would be a touch sensative screen, not something like a screen up there and a pad down below. That makes no sense.

Who likes cleaning the oils off of touchscreens? Not me.
Course, the same can be true of phone screens up against the head.

If the bottom section is supposed to be a touch-pad, then why have all the numbers and navigation displayed on the screen above? What purpose does that serve? The pic is total bunkness. (<-- new word)

What do you think why the touchpad has the same size as the display? You touch the pad - not the screen. Its a "touchscreen" with the sensible area offside the screen. Thats the purpose it serves! Got it?

That's horrid...you can't just punch numbers in, you'd have to slide your finger over to see where the cursor is.

So are you suggesting that the images you see on the screen (the numbers, navigation buttons etc) appear on the bottom touch pad? If not, are we supposed to just estimate where the buttons are supposed to be based on the screen above?
You aren't making sense man. You are getting all angry about something you aren't thinking through. What purpose would a blank touchpad serve? You need to have the buttons on the area you are touching so you know what the hell you're doing.
GOT IT?

Steve says:
You have to understand how we do things at Apple. We think different. So, por ejemplo, as they say in the Netherlands, we don't start with the phone, or the software. We start with the ads. We'll spend months doing storyboards, writing slogans, making fake billboards that we put up in one of our windowless warehouses. I realize this is the reverse of how most companies do it. Just about everybody else starts with the product, and only when it's done do they go, Oh, wait, we gotta come up with some sort of ad, don't we? Which is why most advertising sucks, because it's an afterthought. Not here. At Apple, advertising is a pre-thought. And if we can't come up with a good ad, you know what? We probably won't do the product. It's why we're different. (And no, the one you see here is not the actual iPhone.)

No. I am getting angry? Why should I get angry?
Ok, lets call it trackpad. Why should there not be a (kind of) cursor? Or something like the concept nintendo is using with the DS.

A cursor on a phone? Wow, talk about lame and inaccurate navigation on a small screen!
What DS concept are you talking about? Using a stylus on a touch sensitive screen? That's not exactly what's pictured here, is it?
But then again, if you want that, you'd be better off getting this phone. Which is already out.

I am not saying that I like these concepts or find them usefull, I am just speculating what they could do, thats all. I also think that the poster is fake.

I could probably use a phone without traditional buttons if they enhanced the wheel a bit.
I text a good bit, but there must be something better than T9

Full keyboard of course.
I personally hate phones with full keyboards, but nonetheless they do make texting a whole lot easier.

The thing is you'd get used to a pad interface. Ever use a Wacom tablet? Seriously you just get used to it. You'd just begin to think in relation to where your hand normally sits where you should be pressing down. That said I have trouble seeing this being easily marketable.

In that close-up shot of the phone with the overlayed keypad/scroll wheel:
Why is everything generally grainy except for the overlayed controls? They look absolutely sharp compared to the rest of the pic. I smell Photoshop.
Even if you ignore that, I can't imagine apple using "#—♫" and "*a/A" as button labels. It's totally against their uncluttered design philosophy. Not to mention that's an exact copy of a Sony Ericsson keypad.
Before I was on the fence, but now I'm convinced this is a fake. Moreso, it looks like someone else using the original fake to make a new one.

I think this is pretty close to the original, if not one. I bet that you can switch between scrollwheel and keypad by touching the area above keypad: in this case, keys become grayed and the scrollwheel will become very sharp. All in all, brilliant idea, design and implementation. I bet you can also you the keypad area for all phone functions, drawing, playing and as function keys when making calls

seconded.
the keypad looks odd against the quality of the rest of the phone.
also, whats up with those horrible grey buttons on the screen at the top? It looks weird against the aqua interface, especially with the caps.

I think it has to do with the quality of the photograph and White Background vs grey.
The grey was more forgiving to the edges of the letters.
