Family Guy strategy for the new season

if you've been watching family guy lately, you've probably seen all the references to movies put into the new episodes. i've got an idea that works for the newest episode (403) and am curious if it pans out for any of the other ones.
there were two distinct parts of the show where peter took on the role of harrison ford ; at the end of the chicken fight (Indiana Jones in Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark (?)) and at the very end of the show when he is Hans Solo (Star Wars, obviously). in the last few shows i've seen some scenes that appear to be from old movies, but i am not positive.
if you have noticed this activity as well, post some ideas about why its happening! i'm guessing that the creators are taking famous actors and a few of their more famous scenes and placing the characters of family guy in the central role. could this be?

The chicken fight was WAY too long in the last episode.
But I loved the last scene. Poor Chewie didn't get a medal AGAIN!

The reason the chicken fight is funny is because it goes on way too long.
Besides, why should Chewie get a medal? He didn't save anyone from the fire.

I suggest that we call this technique, in which a popluar subject is imitated for humorous effect, "parody."
Be sure to credit me when using this term in the future. 
By the way, the scenes in the season premier with the airplane in the cornfield and Mt. Rushmore were parodies of North By Northwest.

BTW, the use of parody is nothing new to Family Guy (or any other comedy series ever on TV). It was used extensively in the earlier seasons as well. Examples are "To Love And Die In Dixie," which parodied "The Dukes of Hazard," and the "Road to Rhode Island" and "Road to Europe" episodes, which were parodies of the Bing Crosby and Bob Hope road trip movies that were popular back in the 1950's.
