Also, what are you using to show your network speed in the menubar?</STRONG>
As Don Pickett pointed out, Net Monitor does the Network Stats in the menu bar. It's a Freeware utility... It's awesome
To display my uptime in the dock I used Vanity Dockling. It's a pretty neat dockling, and yes it does save your record uptime...

Wow... your dock is the first one I've seen to have more items in the Documents/Folders side of the dock rather than the Applications side That is definitely not the case with mine
I posted it earlier, but here's it again, since that was on the first page of the thread: http://homepage.mac.com/aorth/.Pictu...7.02_large.jpg

Seeing as you're new to this board... I'll explain to ya... When we post screenshots we usually post a scaled down version linked to the full version of the image... it makes it so the tables don't get as messed up in the thread, and so that modem users don't get hammered... Just so ya know!
Anyways... I really like what you've got going on in your desktop... That background is slick... I do notice that in that blur of letters it says, "Sleazy"... How is Apple sleazy!

Here it is
http://homepage.mac.com/agasthya/background.jpg
I got the large version of the poster fron www.natalieportman.com so you can grab that from there. However, if you'll notice on the left hand side of the background picture, the colors don't fade correctly...I didn't do that right because hayden christenson was there...if someone could fade that correctly I'd be really grateful
Thanks.

Ozmodiar, I like the background Is it a real photo or it was done in 3D software?
KellyHogan, you have the world's most ugliest desktop. No wonder it didn't work well for you.

The background is from Digital Blasphemy, the best 3D artwork site on the planet. The render is called
Nimbus, but I don't know if it's in the free gallery any more or not.

My contribution:
Click for full-size version. No, that's not my Bus, though I do own a New Beetle and a Karmann Ghia (see the site, http://homepage.mac.com/spirit_vw ). I'm a Volkswagen fanatic, and I just dug the pic.

SNAX- Finder replacement. The whole window is the SNAX interface, not the finder.
I find it runs quite a bit faster than the Finder on my TiBook/550- and brings back some features I really liked- mainly spring loaded folders -and something I really missed, file/directory labeling! (At least if there's a way to do that in the X Finder, I haven't found it) Number of items in windows- volume information, etc.)
The directory tabs are indeed a nice touch. I'm so used to them now when I go back to the actual Finder I find myself missing them.
MinivanH8R seems to be running it as well.

It's an application called AquaMon. You can search and download it from versiontracker. In fact, a new version was just released today, so it should show up on the main Mac OS X tab.

1) Download a haxie. I use FruitMenu by Unsanity but there are others out there.
2) xicons.macnn.com has a tutorial on how to change system icons.
3) When you're in Terminal, type
<BLOCKQUOTE><font size="1"face="Geneva, Verdana, Arial">code:</font><HR><pre><font size=1 face=courier>
open /etc/motd
</font>[/code]
and then just change the file. It will pop up with an "Are you sure?" message, so click whatever is "yes." It will say it can't, but then click save again any ways and it should save it.

Actually, I'm not sure that'll work if you haven't futzed with your permissions first. One thing I know will do the trick is this:
<font face = "courier">sudo pico /etc/motd</font>
Then edit the file in Pico and save it (Control-X). That should work.

Here we go:
I like the desktop clean.. no files, no drives, nothing. That's what the dock is for. Using the most excellent Underling theme.

How do you get the Macintosh HD to go to the Dock? Whenever I drag it there it just creates an alias in the
dock and leaves the drive on the desktop.

the hard disk on your desktop is the most aliased of all the aliases
"Desktop" is just an other folder in your home directory. you can turn the Hard disk alias on your Desktop off with the Finder preferences.
