Why does diskutil say it mounts an image but nothing can be found?

I run this:

Code:
sudo diskutil mount OSXvnc1.33.dmg
. . . and it reports . . .

Code:
Volume OSXvnc1.33.dmg mounted
But this shows nothing:
Code:
[car-x:~] ls /Volumes/ QEDTOO [car-x:~]
Am I using the command wrong? I am logged in as a user who also happens to be logged in at the console (which I can't see right now). I run the code as root and there is no difference.

Use hdiutil instead.

hdiutil attach <path>

diskutil mount is for mounting character devices, not disk images, AFAIK.

Ticking sound coming from a .pkg package? Don't let the .bom go off! Inspect it first with Pacifist. Macworld - five mice!
