Okay, I've read several threads where users could not get iTunes 4.8, Apple Intermediate codec, or the like to show up in their Software Updates.

Here's the likely scenario:

These users all installed Tiger using the archive and install method.

What happened? When Tiger was installed, all of the old receipts (including iLife '05) were left behind in the Panther system (previous system folder). Go check your /Library/Receipts and see for yourself.

So if you can't get iTunes 4.8 to show up in your SU? That's more than likely why.

Nope.

Mine is a brand spanking new Dual 2.0 with a factory Tiger image and no "migration".

All new, and no iTunes. However, I did get some Codec thing today.

Ditto; I never got iTunes 4.8 to show up on my reformatted 'Tiger' installation, nor the DVD Player update, but the Intermediate Codec 1.0.1 update appeared in the SU app just as advertised.

I updated from Panther to Tiger and I was unable to see iTunes 4.8 in the SU, also there is no Codec update in there either. Has anyone got a solution yet?

Can those with a iTunes 4.7.1 receipt confirm that 4.8 shows up in SU?

AFAIK iTunes has always been released as a download only and then shows up in SU a couple of days later.

I did a erase and install (aka clean install) and neither the iTunes or DVD Player updates show up in Software Update for me. I did get the Intermediate Codec thing though.

I did a clean install of Tiger. The only thing I get in SU is the Qmaster update that I already installed last week. I'm not seeing, iTunes 4.8, that codec thing nor the dvd plater update.

Seconded. I have iTunes 4.7.1, the receipt for it and iTunes 4.8 does not show up in Software Update.

Seems Apple just isn't releasing it through SU for some reason. It has happened before.

Not the case for me. I did a new install of 10.4 and iLife and it showed the "Intermediate codec" but not DVD player or iTunes.

Doesn't Apple stagger the release of updates with Software Update?

I have a clean install of Tiger and got nothing in SU after multiple checks. I downloaded iTunes from the web and never even heard of the codec or dvd player updates. I did install some codecs from 3ivx and divx.com though.

Now I'm getting the Apple Intermediate Codec, Pro App support 3.0 and the Shake Qmaster update. No iTunes or DVD player.

I installed the updates and now they show up again in SU.

SU is definitely borked.

No iTunes update here on 10.3.8.

Well, whether Apple staggers their downloads (which I have never noticed), or whether they wait a couple of days before they post the update on SU (which I have noticed, but it has never been a few days, only hours), these updates are NOT showing in SU. When will this issue be taken care of, with 10.4.1?

I just realized this all started for me with the G5 Superdrive firmware update. That updated never showed on my SU, and nothing new has shown since...

I've had nothing show up in SW - ended up just downloading iTunes & DVD Player.

What is the Intermediate Codec 1.0.1 update anyway? It says for people using QuickTime 7 & FC or iLife 05. I have QT 7 and iLife 05, but running the installer says no applicable volumes to install on. Guess I don't need it, but I'm curious.

I'm running Tiger New Install on New Raptor Drive installed in a PM G5. I didn't get the iTunes 4.8 or the DVD 4.6 updates either. I am unable to download anything thru safari, firefox, or IE. I can't even force a download from the apple website. In order to get iTunes 4.8 was to download it on my PC and copy over to G5. I have checked everything and verified my drive still no downloads thru SU. I even restarted w/ other HD w/ 10.3.9 and still no SU. I couldn't even download the driver needed for my 3rd party mouse.

Hope there's a fix soon. I like tiger even though its a bit buggy now.
