I just deleted my XP partition because i'm upgrading to Vista, now when I tried to partition the drive again it said

"Can not partition this drive. Use Disk Utility to repair the drive."

Any ideas?

EDIT : exact words are

"Verificaton failed. This disk could not be partitioned.

Use Disk Utility to repair the disk."

Which I did, and still getting the same message.

Boot from your OS X disc, then run Disk Utility from the Tools menu. It can't fix DISK issues when run under OS X because OS X is using the disk. When you boot from the optical disc, it can do a lot more.

Ok, my CD's are at my friend's house, and I can't pick them up until tomorrow. Is there a way I can boot from my External HD? IF so, what do I need to copy to it? Just drag the "Macintosh HD" over? Or do I need to wait until tomorrow to have the original CD's?

I don't know that it wouldn't work to boot from an external drive-the limitation is that certain actions can't be done on the drive being used to run the OS from... Give it a try-at the worst you'll find out it doesn't work and you'll have to wait until tomorrow.

I just moved the HDD to the trash

Nah, I used Boot Camp Assistant.

I just booted from the Install CD, repaired the disk and now I get this :

"The disk cannot be partitioned because some files cannot be moved.

Back up the disk and use Disk Utility to format it as a single Mac OS Extended (Journaled) volume. Restore your information to the disk and try using Boot Camp Assistant again."

Do I really need to reinstall Leopard in order to install windows again?

To put it nicely, yes you have to reinstall. You'll need to (obviously) reformat the drive as one, install Leopard, then attempt the partition again. You could try Disk Warrior or Drive Genius to try and repair, but those are around $100 each, and even those don't guarantee to avoid the reinstall part.

I re-installed leopard and i am actually on Vista now. Couple little things:

When the comp is botting up I get a bunch of error messages like "Partition was not formatted correctly, please partition using a windows FDISK" etc. than a bunch of hex values and DOS commands.

Everything seems to be working fine except that...oh and I have 4GB of RAM but it's only saying 2.96 in My Computer (same as XP was doing) and 3036 MB in Control Panel. Anyway to 'activate' I guess...the remaining RAM?

This is a limitation of windows, You will have to set up the 64 bit version of Vista. Sorry.
