Is there a way to automatically load an audio file to the audio software (real player, for example) without downloading a plug-in onto the desktop?

I hate having to put a file in the trash every time I want to listen to a radio show over the Internet.

Some sites embed the player, like the BBC for example. But generally if you're launching an external player you'll need that pesky file.
