I have a a 17" 1.83 Intel iMac, and I just bought a new 400 GB drive for it. I've heard it can be rather tricky to install those. Does anyone have a good guide that would show me whether I could handle it? I've installed a new drive in an old powerbook, a Mac Mini, and thrown RAM in everything under the sun, so I'm not a complete idiot when it comes to these things, but I'm no computer tech either. Should I even attempt this, or just take it to the Apple store?

Apple themselves tell you how to do it for most models, it's on their website.
This will give a good insight into how to do it on your model.
Apple - Support - Search Results
Loads of pics, and how to do it guide, downloads as a PDF.

Those instructions are for disassembling G5 iMacs, which were much more user-serviceable. The Intel iMacs are more of a pain.
This website has some great info and pictures to help you:
iMac Disassembly
I took mine apart last week using this info, and I had no problems. Pretty interesting too.

What hard drive did you put in? Our iMac isn't three weeks old and we're already out of space. I've seen the XLR8yourmac database, but any other reports would be welcome too.
