Bad Terminal Day it seems, I just managed to accidentally replace a file called 'Desktop D' at the root of the drive with something else. So it's gone. 'Desktop DB' and 'Desktop DF' are fine.
It's been a few hours and reboots and it hasn't come back. No problems either, though. I even upgraded to 10.3.9 to see what happens.
Anybody have an idea of the implications of this?
TIA,
J

I don't think there's supposed to be a file called "Desktop D" at the root of the drive. At least, I have never seen such a file. Therefore, I don't think you need to worry much about this.
If you're really worried, you can go into the Classic preference pane and rebuild the Classic desktop file.

Yes, that's not a file the OS (classic or otherwise) needs.

Might be the first Mac OS X virus, and you deleted the only copy in the universe before it got a chance to propogate anywhere. PHEW!

I called Symantec and they have a press release coming up later today.
Nah, it was actually a typo meets thinko - I was hitting tab in the terminal for auto-completion and it was between DB and DF, showing only 'D' when I accidentally hit enter (I though I was in my home, looking for Desktop.)
Thanks all
J
