So, what's the cheapest PostScript laser printer to pair with our choice of print server (see the print server thread)??
I've found two candidates:
Minolta-QMS PagePro 1250E, 1200x1200dpi, 17ppm, 16MB, PostScript level 2
Brother HL 5050, 2400x600dpi, 16ppm, 16MB, PostScript level 3
Any others approaching $300?
Does any software actually use level 3 Postscript... is that worth anything?
Any experiences with the Brother or the Minolta laser printers?
Thanks!

I have a Brother MFC 9700. Granted, there may be MAJOR differences with how this model communicate vs the one you're looking at, but... The only way to network my MFC 9700 is to buy one of Brother's NICs for it. It will not function through a USB or parallel print server. So heads up.

I think Samsung makes some too. The Brothers were very highly rated in a recent MacWorld comparison test. You might search their web site.
I have a Brother 1270N which I am quite happy with.
