Well, just got the patch, but I'm having a rather irritating issue, which I haven't heard of anyone else having—yet, anyway. I thought of Mr. Barris immediately, as I know he frequents the forum; perhaps he'll have some ideas. I can only imagine the development team are tearing their hair out right now, but here goes!
The problem is pretty simple: my name doesn't appear in my little character window in the top left. All that's there is an ellipsis (...). In addition, anything I select—NPCs, players, mobs, including myself—also has the ellipsis. See below.
Certainly only happened after the patch. I logged out, back in, quit the app, relaunched. It came back at one point briefly, but now it's gone again apparently. Any ideas?
I'm on a MacBook Pro. Latest everything, software-wise.

I don't suppose you've changed any of your interface fonts, have you?

Nope. And I don't have any add-ons anymore. (Only one I did have was WoWReader.)

You clear out the cache files in the WDB folder? That usually fixes quite a few of these odd as heck display issues.

You mean these?
All of that is safe for deletion, including the .mpq file?
Edit: This problem is fixed when I first sign on. It appears to break when other player characters are loaded, like through zoning. Removing teh cache files (not the .mpq) did not fix it.

You can safely remove both your WTF and WDB folders, and doing so will often solve strange problems. I'd suggest moving both out of your WOW folder and seeing if the problem still presents. (That's usually the first thing Blizz tech support will have you do after removing addons.)

I had a few hard freezes in game after the patch, but I removed all my addons and haven't had the problem since.
Going from a customized interface back to the default sucks. Gotta wait for the updates I guess.

I had a few hard freezes yesterday too - never had that before except when WoW killed my logic board . Seems to have gotten over it, but it has been a strange few weeks with lag phenomena and such.

Removing the WTF and WDB folders completely seems to have done the problem. Removing everything FROM the folders EXCEPT the config didn't fix it, so I have a a feeling that the config was the culprit. Anyway, it appears to be functioning properly again. Thanks for the help!

In other news, some people are reporting a huge increase in framerates: http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/th...mp=1#post26969
Apple, myself and other people that have been mocked defending OS X's OpenGL performance will be accepting apologies during the next 3 months from Tomchu, the good folks at www.penny-arcade.com and everyone else that thinks OS X OpenGL sucks balls.
There was obviously some optimizations to be done on the Blizzard-side of things. There may be some to do on the Apple-side of things but when framerates jump from 20fps to 60fps and the OS isn't responsible for that jump...well...ya know...

Update:
I had removed all addons and such from my WoW folder. It took a while but I got another freeze last night. Not sure what is going on.

Have you checked your system logs (as well as WOW's log if there is one)?
