I just got a brand 15" with a super drive. They're supposed to burn DVD+R/-Rs right? I tried burning a DVD+R with Toast. It said unsupported format right when it almost finished burning. Do I need to get a firmware upgrade?

I'm pretty sure you're right. Did you try just a plain burn in the Finder?
