While the cool factor is high, the only price estimation I can find is "less than the cost of a good mobile phone" which I figure must be $250-$350 USD. I'm afraid I won't drop that on a keyboard which I'm usually not looking at anyway.

It's extremely cool... but like Teronzhul said... I wouldn't drop that much on a keyboard, especially when I never really look at it.

For the average consumer I don't see this on their desks. But for the Photoshop, Final Cut pro its a must!

I'll drop 5 large on this just because I'm such a Fanboy and the coolness factor is off the charts. This could help with work flow in ways never before dreamt. Not to mention what this could do for my pron collection. One hand computing here I cum.

Cool for pro apps and some games, but having to lift your right hand off the keyboard to hit enter?!
That's messed up, there are 3 keys between the semicolon/colon and the enter key.

I'm sure that if one desired they could reset those smaller keys to act as an enter key for more natural and normal usage. The whole point of the keyboard is user configurability anyway right?

That is BLOODY COOL!

Now OK for typing not a massive deal, but imagine if you could be in an app like Final Cut (any version) and have all your hot keys show up? Imagine if you could hold down command and have the P button change to a printer icon?! Again not a massive deal for me, but if they could mass manufacture these things and bring the price down to even 200 CND I'd buy one! Imagine something like this as part of a Powerbook! If they did it using LEDs forget a backlit keyboard, you could have all your options be right there! Would allow using alternative keyboard layouts like Dvorak a snap!

This is by far one of the most innovative things I've seen done with a keyboard... actually... ever!

That key is a display, it could be Safari, it could be Photoshop it could be ANYTHING! That's the beauty of the thing. This'd be awesome if Apple bought this company or licensed them or something and made these their standard keyboards! Imagine I need to type something in greek, oh hey I just changed my keyboard lay out to greek and don't even have to think long to figure out what letters should be where! They're on the keyboard!

Dang... this is an awesome idea!

hehe new kind of skin to hack into it, picture of thigs you like being displayed on all the keys. Since I dont look at the keys when I type I could make it a extended desktop of a hot guy or girl sitting on the keys That alone makes it worth while. And think about a itunes or winamp plug in that makes the keys light up with the misic, waves of things going back and forth. I can see real potential for this sucker.

I wouldn't buy that Optimus keyboard unless it used mechanical keyswitches like my matias tactile pro. I kill membrane keyboards quickly.

For most graphic designers the price would be worth it.

If the price is within reason, I might get one for my wife, as she needs to type in both Arabic and English for her work. Plus, it is pretty cool-looking.

If you use one program primarily on the computer, then a Logic keyboard is probably much more economical. $99 for a full keyboard or $59 for just the keycaps. However, of course, the cool factor is nowhere near the Optimus.

I'll believe it when I see it. While it looks pretty nifty, I'm still doubtful this small Russian company is actually bringing it to market. We'll see on Feb 1.

Well its only over a year late, so I would assume the price reflects all the development costs. They must've spent an assload of cash making that thing over the years. They gotta make it back somehow.

Overpriced and overdeveloped, the fact that we tend to 'drool' over this kind of stuff makes me feel a little queezy...

"Give me 10 monitors, a 1gw pair of headphones, some furry dice and a can of Red Bull."

I actually quite liked the idea when they became restricted to using B&W keys, but now I hear they're back on track with the colour ones... it's like a disco, but for your fingers, sheesh.

Whilst—as a user of multiple keyboard layouts—I would in principle appreciate a keyboard that could display different characters, I don't understand why they designed it as such an ugly Windoze keyboard. The case design and some of the key shapes are awful.

Actually, I think at a 3rd of the cost, they would probably sell. It wouldn't do really well, but there would be some people who would go for it, esp. I think some production houses.

At $1500+ though, I would be surprised if they sold 1.
