I've always heard about the mac death song, have I finally heard it? I restarted my 1400cs to change extension sets, and it froze for a long time on the happy mac with no hard drive activity. I reset it again, and nothing. I plugged it in, and then tried again, and it let out three notes, that sounded suspiciously like the Twilight Zone theme. Is that the song of death? Is my 1400 no more?

Thanks

That's the infamous Sad Mac, which usually means a hardware error, although it can also be caused by some stupid things like trying to boot from an OS version that's too old.

It doesn't necessarily mean your PB's dead - could be bad RAM, something could need to be reseated. Open the case, and try reseating some stuff, try taking out some of the RAM, etc. or you could take it to an authorized Apple service provider and let them look at it.

Ticking sound coming from a .pkg package? Don't let the .bom go off! Inspect it first with Pacifist. Macworld - five mice!

It did start complaining about bad ram a few restarts ago. I didn't think much of it, since it seemed to still work. I'll try reseating stuff.
