I ask this because the DNC was on several of the TVs at the gym last night and I found ii unbearable. It just came off as a giant pep rally for adults, and watching (no sound) speaker after speaker go on and off the stage for what I assume has to be hours – I don't see what's there for anybody. Hell, I caught the cc for Nancy Pelosi greeting everyone, "Hello my fellow Democrats" and got partially incensed that the term Americans isn't good enough.

Then I thought about abe transcribing the RNC or Chongo watching the DNC; The former is just preaching to the choir, and the latter is highly vetted "propaganda". What's the allure?

As with the RNC, I'm completely fine with letting other people watch it.

It's doubtful something interesting would happen and not get picked up by the MSM.

That's a point I was thinking after the post. If anyone is concerned about gaffes, big reveals, etc. how is it any different than a campaign event? It'll get covered.

I'm actually surprised networks find it profitable to cover it. Who's watching this other than true believers and people trapped on an elliptical?

The conventions are pointless. I like a good speech so I watched the Michelle Obama and Bill Clinton speeches later on YouTube (I used to do the same sort of thing for the Steve Jobs keynotes), but those speeches could have happened anywhere at anytime.

I decided to watch iCarly instead. It was more real.

I watch them on C-SPAN. No talking heads, just the conventions speaking for themselves. I watched a little of MSNBC just to get a sense of how they cover them. I wasn't surprised.

It's at the DNC addressing fellow Democrats at the convention. You were incensed that Nancy Pelosi greeted Democrats at the convention with "fellow Democrats"?
Bush Tax Cuts == Job Killer

Bill Clinton's speech was very very good. Caught on youtube. Haven't watched Michelle's yet.

If I was stuck with live TV and had no DVR or DVDs I might watch more of the conventions... I still regret not making a point to catch more Olympics. But this is the way we do things today with modern tech, and Season 4 of Leverage takes precedence over political TV.
