Why is Helvetica locked?

I have installed Leopard via a Archive and Install, now all but 2 of the Helvetica fonts are locked (meaning a lock appears next to them in font book, and when I open pages it defaults to Helvetica Narrow one of the unlocked ones)
Is there any way to fix this? It has happened on both of my Macs and validating the font does nothing.
Edit: Pages says the font is missing even tho I can still use it.

Check to see if you have another Helvetica copy installed somewhere.

I'm experiencing this too - font conflicts where they hadn't existed before.
For example, there's a bunch of weights of Helvetica Neue that I had installed right alongside the version Apple installs: extended and compressed weights that oughtn't to be conflicting... but now they apparently do. The same is true with weights of Helvetica itself.
I'm managing these with Linotype FontExplorer, and it isn't seeing these as conflicting, but I was getting a message from Font Book about a Helvetica conflict on booting... and I was seeing some condensed faces in Safari where it should have been displaying normal weight Helvetica faces.

I've got the same problem with Helvetica Narrow showing up instead of Helvetica.

Is there anyway to fix this?

The only way I've fixed it is by disabling those other Helvetica fonts, and I'm not happy about it.
At some point I may remove the Apple-installed system library version of Helvetica, which only has a few type faces, and see how OS X looks using my more complete set... but I'm under sufficiently aggressive deadline pressures right now that I haven't gotten around to experimenting with that.
One wrinkle is that my more complete set is Postscript, and the Apple Helvetica is TrueType, and I wonder if that contributes to this problem... although it never had been an issue in the past.

So I'm stuck with these broken fonts? I have no 3rd party fonts installed.

Or Archive & Install Tiger until Leopard gets out of beta. We're seeing an awful lot of issues posted, enough to warrant the opinion that Apple shipped too soon.

Not a option, I love Leopard too much to go back. I think I'll wait it out for a bit or call Apple about fixing it.

I found the problem.
Apparently when I still ran Tiger, GIMP cache'd its fonts in ~/Library/Fonts. When I installed Leopard these fonts conflicted with the system-wide fonts. I deleted them now and Helvetica works fine. Haha! Peter was wrong! Haha!
