When the US election was on - did you read dailykos, did you wait for CNN, what was your source?

What about the economic crisis - where are you keeping upto date on the latest news? Google News? Bloomberg? Washington Post?

or do you simply avoid all news? why?

I'm trying to create a list of the most popular news sources - not necessarily just tech news -- all news.

One should never stop striving for clarity of thought and precision of expression.
I would prefer my humanity sullied with the tarnish of science rather than the gloss of religion.

I was up to my eyeballs in work for most of the election frenzy, so I had to wait for news anyway. I typically read my morning paper (hopefully on the morning I receive it, but not always), and look at headlines on sites like CNN and (yes) Yahoo! I do NOT even bother with local TV news except for weather emergencies; they are even worse than you can imagine. Or maybe not-but let me point out that my local paper includes an abridged version of the Star tabloid in the Sunday edition, and the paper was affiliated with one of the local TV stations up until just a couple of weeks ago. Local TV news here is extremely tabloid and thus utterly useless for real news.

My go to sites for politics are politico and huffingtonpost.

Otherwise I use a potpourri of various news sites, not all that dissimilar to dcmacdaddy, with a few more ferner publications thrown in. Tech stuff arstechnica generally with the fun blogs like metafilter and boingboing thrown in for the rest.

My wife just goes to news.yahoo.

I don't typically seek it out. If news is important enough, it will find me.

I have a gazillion different news sources in NetNewsWire and I skim the headlines all the time to see if anything sounds relevant.

I usually hit FOX News if something is actually happening, but I tend to only get interested in certain news topics, at which point I'll end up reading Wikipedia and hitting Google News, so I read from a variety of sources.

I'm more interested in techie stuff, so I mostly stick with Engadget, Gizmodo, and Consumerist.

I don't know if that's a serious headline or an ad for a b-grade action movie…
