Yes, I know. It's a couple of years too late, but you can't blame me. I didn't see it until now. I am posting a reply to the previous thread found here: http://forums.macnn.com/89/macnn-lou...heddar-cheese/ which is ridiculous.
British cheese is wide, varied and world class. The only plebs that say otherwise are clearly, plebs.
In regards to supermarket cheese, you people are clearly walking round with your eyes closed. There must be approx. 65 different cheeses available from all over the world (mainly British and European) at my local supermarkets. Not including the 'deli' section.
Americans are odd, I have been there 6 times and to be honest I am have not been looking for cheese but at the hotels I have come across 'squeezy cheese', I need not say more.
I am sure that in the USA there are plenty of excellent cheese manufacturers and shops. This is not the point of the original post. French cheese is good. That's all. Just good. The British posting on this thread have shown themselves up to be complete cretins that shop exclusively at Tesco and don't think that food exists outside of it's door's. British cheese is amongst the best in the world, just look up the variety and history on Google. Just because your local Tesco Express only sells Cathedral City, it doesn't make British cheddar cheese bad. It makes you a complete food spastic. It's like saying all Italian pizza is crap because you tried a deep pan, pineapple pizza at PizzaHut.
Get your nose out of the Guardian and Tesco, get a grip of the real world and don't make statements about British industry you clearly know F* all about.

Yeah, but you think a 300lb hamburger with squeezy cheese and 4 litres of Coke is good food

As an American, my last meal would be a cheeseburger, though I'm a fan of the ΒΌ-lb. size.
Likewise, I'm a fan of Pepsi products. This is a Mac forum.

An American wounded by British friendly fire. How ironic (in the true sense of the word, not the American Allanis Morissette version)
You clearly have an inferiority complex trying to turn my post on to an American bashing argument. American food and it's people are known for brash, thick, sedentary, obese and gluttonous menus/people. But this is not the point.
Out of interest, what do you consider good American, world renowned food? What about delicate, specialist American cheese?

What's genuinely ironic is you somehow thinking I was needed for that to happen.

You should check out this awesome American invention called Google. Using it would let you know both how to spell her name and that she's Canadian.

With a last name like Morissette, probably also French-Canadian.

I think this cheesy thread has not aged well. In short, it has exceeded its expiration date and we'll take it off the shelf.
