Dear all,
I have recently accepted a new job in the Bay Area!! Having to drive cross country, I am not going to drag all my stuff with me. I am just packing my clothes and my G5. I want to make my G5 the centerpiece of my home entertainmant center. My G5 has the following specs: Dual G5 2.0 Ghz, 2.5GB of RAM, ATI Radeon x800 video card, M-Audio Sound Card, 5.1 Surround, 23" HD Cinema Display and other odds and ends.
My objective is to have my 23" monitor to also be the TV. Being that I have never done this with a computer system before, I am kind of at a lost as to what to do.
So what do I need? My cable provider will be comcast. I want to be able to have the cable box hook directly into the monitor or use some type of switch box (DVI).
Please give some advice....
Thanks, Anthony

I'd be very interested in this as well, seeing how my 23" ACD is larger than my actual TV (not to mention it's HD versus SD).
I'll do some digging and get back to you.

Look at the Elgato EyeTV stuff or the Slingbox stuff (slingbox just released beta Mac software):
Elgato Systems
Sling Media - Home
Actually, the Elgato stuff may be more appropriate here since you won't have a livingroom TV.
Basically slingbox will allow you to watch TV anywhere you can have a computer connected to a network/internet. The Elgato set of products allow you to watch TV on your computer.

You might want to check out the "iTV" (or whatever it will be called) when it is officially introduced next month. May be useful to your planned setup.

Agreed. Wait and see what iTv has to offer when it is released. Maybe check out a demo version at the local Apple store or Circuit City. If you don't like what you see, go with the EyeTv. That way you won't have any regrets if you make a purchase now if it turns out the iTv would've suited your needs better.
