I use Expos all the time, so now I just went and moved my mouse to my hot corner which hides all open windows so I can use my desktop.
When I did this it moved all open windows into a small box at the bottom left of the screen. I just click the box and it comes back. Hmm... interesting.
Running retail 10.3 with no security updates. Just did this today - never did before.

Wow, I just went ahead and tried to move the box around, and it moves.
Pretty damn cool.

Mine never did this before either... it always moved my windows off to different sides of the screen. I have not installed anything either that should make it do this.

Kinda off-topic, but I love Expos. I have all three functions hooked up to cmd-mouse button 3, 4, or 5 - and it's so fast! I started out using the F-keys, but I didn't like having to reach up to the top of the keyboard everytime I wanted to see the Desktop, etc.

Strange that it would do this spontaneously. There is a terminal command line hack to enable this feature. It can be found here [macosxhints.com].

Or you could just use the one posted in this thread.

You can also download the UI here if you don't want to remember the terminal command. Look for the Hackpose 1.1

I have never seen what you're talking about. Can you post a screengrab?

I am the one who actually posted the Terminal hack on macosxhints.com. So here it is. You may have done this and forgot about it or maybe you didn't know what it did.
Here's how to turn it off.
Open Terminal.app
Type the following:
Code:
defaults write com.apple.dock wvous-olddesktop -bool true; killall Dock
That's it. Now press F11 and everything should be back to normal.

It's a neat hack but...
Try clicking in the space the little window occupied. The mouse won't select anything that is now in that space. If you move the box to a area where a drop down menu is you won't be able to make a selection in the area where the little window was.
Be careful where you drag the window!
It corrects it self on a restart.
Otherwise I love it.

Heh, yup I figured this one out on my own and wanted to make me throw the Mac out the window.

holy crap! yes ive seen the picture before, but i tried it on my computer:
PowerBook G3 400MHz Pismo 320M RAM Panther (duh...how else would i have done it?) - gm version, no beta
and my system froze up, i could only move the mouse, restarted, typed in
defaults write com.apple.dock wvous-olddesktop -bool true; killall Dock
and its working now...it might have messed up because of my setup? i dont know...but im not doing it again.

I wouldn't use the hack. I tried once and it locked everything up except the cursor.
