Hello All,

So I have located the official site where the creator of Barmaid, the menubar hiding ape that needs some work, resides.

However, there is an issue with it that causes it to slow the system down a bit. If you know how to contact this genterlman (The email on the site is NOT the contact info for the creator of Barmaid) please contact him / her regarding this comunity's desire for a working or open sourced Barmaid.

To try it out go to this adress.
The URL is: http://home.comcast.net/~ckoenigsfeld/

Your participation is key to getting this person to act.

Thanks,

R

Ok first of all, i am not the creator for this app, i am just hosting it at this location. I unfortunetly lost the email for the creator of this app, and i don't feel like going through pages and pages of the offical screen shot thread to find it. It is a very cool app and i wish someone would creator a new bettter one or even update this one.

Hehe, then you can keep your menubar in BBX. However, if you like the app, then email the guy.

I would have posted his email directly, however I felt like that was a bit disrespectful. If you would like to email the fellow, please follow the link that I provided above. His email is in there

Thank you for pointing out my genius. Genius I may be, however, NOT a mind reader.

Thank you for making it most clear as to your relationship with the software... Escentially nothing.

You host this guy and can't get ahold of him? Wow...

R

P.S. I tried to IM you, but you were not available.
P.S.S. By your email, his contact info IS in the ScreenShots thread somewhere?

Website just deleted, but anybody who would still like to get barmaid here it is...

I do hope someone will be able to get a hold of the creator. I would have no problem hosting a new updated version of it, thanks.

There's already a lot to enjoy in this beta. If you can pull of your to do list, I think you have a winner !

Here's a few more ideas :

- the screen star you refer to shows as two dots on my screen. Are you perhaps using a Lucida character there ? That would make sense because I'm running Silk / ArialMT.
- the Jade menu font is rather big size, again perhaps a Silk interference ?
- is it possible to build in a custom setting for an activation hot key / hide screen graphic ?

I have no clue of macOSX programming, so I might be asking very much without even knowing. Sorry if that would prove to be so

It would be better (for me) if the events occured with mouse events only, and if the app was a prefpane.

Great start though!

R

P.S. I have contacted the original creator of Barmaid. Fortunate for us, he has given the source code to a friend of mine to complete / imporve / advance Barmaid! WahOOoOOoO! That is all the detail I can give at this point.

Well, I wouldn't say that... I mean, more competition is always good. Imagine the kind of pressure we could have as consumers if there were any kind of competition with ShapeShifter...

Oh, I know that (and I think it would be awesome if someone finally made it bug free), but I was referring to the quoted text.

Actually, MenuShade v0.6 in Tiger can't apply a color to the menubar. The option is said to come back though. Until then you can set a transparency, with a 100% resulting in a "black" menubar.
Why I want this ? VOID minimalism

Hello All,

The current state of BarMaid goes as such:
The new developer took a look at the code and decided to re-write it from the ground up and add new features. The new features are mainly things like adding key-combos for the menu action...

I have been interacting daily with the new developer (well, he is my pal after all ) and he tells me that his computer is in Ireland currently receiving repairs. They are being completely SLOOOOOOW with the repairs. They gave him a compy to work with, but it crashes every 10 minutes when he works within his xcode developing app (sorry if that sounded really lame, I know nothing about coding ).

He tells me that I will just have to be patient. So, trust me yall, I want this as bad as you do.
I will post more when I have more.

Yours,
R

The developer is getting his computer back from the shop on Monday. Since he is also the developer of an iTunes controller called Radion, which is also his primary concern, he will be working on an update to this first.

I am developing an icon for Radion which is, in some ways, payment for re-working Bar Maid.

Please keep in mind that while this is going to take some time, it is actually in a que to be worked on. It isn't just sitting idle collecting dust as it was before.
Also, please keep in mind that I want this as bad as the rest of you... Being a little closer to the fire has worn my patience, but I continue. As I hope you will do as well.

Yours,

R

The Developer is finally going to get a replacement for his machine. When he gets it back, he will finish the work he is doing on his bread and butter app, then he is going to work on BarMaid.

I thank you for your patience,

R

P.S. I guarantee you... when I get the word that it is going to be released, I will immediately jump for joy all the way here and post the news.

Some news:
The developer has the completely re-written BarMaid almost complete. He is working out some kinks and then I will get to Beta test it. SoooOoOo excited!
When BarMaid is released it will have a completely new name. Makes sense really... new code and all...
Anyway, Things are looking up!

Here is what I can tell you:

1. Since BarMaid has been rewritten from the ground up, it will don a new name, "MenuFela." You can either thank or hate _me_ for that as I requested the new name.

2. The new app will have a toggle ability via key-combo. This is in addition to the normal/expected functionality that we expect out of the app.

There is one thing that I should mention to head off any complaints; When hiding the menu bar, the doc will also hide. There is no way around this.

So, there you have it. We can expect to have the same (but stable) functionality of the old app, but with a new key-combo option.

You could (until MenuFela is finished) utilize the removal method I've found.

Per my blog at: http://blog.cypher-sec.org it's not an auto-hide (as of yet) but a removal of the bar and working to an auto-hide.

Since it's kind of a long post, I thought I'd spare only those that want to read about it and link it instead.

He's talking about the very first post, which isn't a .mac site at all, but is still using the word "Simplicty" which I'm pretty sure doesn't exist.

OK, I was worried that it was my site. Bad for a portfolio.

As for Simplicity being a word, yup, sure is. Perhaps he meant to spell it that way.

Benefit of the doubt.

The original person to code BarMaid has given the project to Aquatic Software: http://www.aquaticsw.com.

The developer appreciates your patience while he waits to finish/release until Unsanity gets a move-on and updates APE to be Intel Compatible. The reason for this is because his original development machine died and was replaced with an Intel-based mac. Many apologies for the long wait.

Thanks again,

R

first of all it's just a collection of mac desktops. i'll take it off if you want...i just put it up b/c i thought it was cool...the desktops i put up are ones i have enjoyed from all different places so if the artist put there name in the desktop then of course i left it.
