What would be a fair price for a 2.5-3 year old G5 with dual 2 GHz, 2GB of RAM and an 23" Cinema Display?

My company leases two and we are trying to see how much they are worth vs. what we've paid during the life of the lease.

Maybe if it was a dual-core one, but it is 2 years old. Nobody will pay $1400 for a two year old G5. I could see $1400 with display however.

Is it a plastic or aluminum cinema display?

The computer is probably worth $1000.

If the dispay is aluminum, I'd say it's worth $400-500.

if it's plastic, $300-$400.

check eBay. That is the best way to get a notion.

especially look for the "buy now" price.. As a private seller, you may have to aim slightly lower, but then again, maybe not.

One thing is for sure, those that mass sell on eBay count on actually selling stuff, so they are pretty solid on what price will move an item (no bids means no money).

20" Plastic displays cost around $499!!! A 23" Aluminum display would be around $799!!

I would rant about the insanity of the posts in this thread, but ranting usually comes after one has observed acts of pure insanity. These are not posts of pure insanity, these are posts of abismal insanity.

May I ask one question?

WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT???????????????????????????????????

To the OP: $2000 easily for the whole setup.

Low-end price, good shape 23" display, sold for $440.
eBay: APPLE 23" Cinema HD Display LCD Flat Panel M8536 (item 120026897307 end time Sep-08-06 05:11:58 PDT)

High-end price, in awesome shape, sold for $835. I woiuld place yours much closer to the low-end, however.
eBay: Apple 23" HD Aluminum Cinema Display **No dead pixels (item 230027779148 end time Sep-15-06 18:29:58 PDT)

Comparable system, low-end price, sold for $1,150.
eBay: Apple Computer Power Mac G5 Dual 2Gig PPC w/ 2 Gig ram. (item 170025209926 end time Sep-02-06 16:44:03 PDT)

Another comparable system, higher price, sold for $1,425.
eBay: Apple PowerMac G5 Dual 2Ghz 2GB RAM NR! (item 140023395302 end time Sep-03-06 17:15:20 PDT)

Personally, I really like eBay completed listings to tell how much something is worth. Individuals tend to get a bit less than others (as noted above). Also, I really didn't know how much hard drive space you have.

Ok guys..

He's selling a Dual 2.5, not a Dual 2.0.. huge difference in resale on that. These are what used to figure out what I'm selling my machine fro last week. I took 30% off to give my good friend a good deal on it, and to avoid ebay shipping and hassles.

Here goes:

eBay: Apple G5 Power Mac Dual Processor GeForce 6800 (item 130016632775 end time Aug-22-06 22:08:48 PDT)

eBay: APPLE M9178LL/A CINEMA HD DISPLAY 23" WIDESCREEN LCD (item 270019310465 end time Aug-19-06 17:03:24 PDT)

eBay: POWER MAC G5*DUAL 2.5*3.75GB RAM*410GB HD*PERFECT! (item 140025625799 end time Sep-10-06 20:00:00 PDT)

eBay: APPLE M9178LL/A CINEMA HD DISPLAY 23" WIDESCREEN LCD (item 270026361745 end time Sep-09-06 19:16:11 PDT)

eBay: Apple PowerMac Dual 2.3 Ghz G5 *LOADED* -Must See- (item 170024835455 end time Sep-07-06 07:14:15 PDT)

And I sold mine (much like the first auction link above) to a friend at a bargain price $2400 with 23 ACD monitor.

I think maybe we've got some members looking at used Dell prices or maybe you're looking in Walmart for their WalPC?

How did you get $1300 for a MDD? Someone wasn't paying attention when they wrote that check.

One month ago I was able to get $1525+ shipping for a 3 year old...

Dual G5 2.0
3GB RAM
250GB HD
DL Superdrive
64MB ATi 9600 Pro

IOW...ebay it and don't let some others on here try and make you give it away.

that is right in line with realistic values.. There are no $1300 Dual G5's, much less dual 2.5's unless you simply get lucky and find an auction that isn't getting much attention.
