I've been informed that there's a lot of back-end work today, coupled with some issues at the data center.

I wonder if any of this has to do with which mega-ISP a user is connected through. I have not had any of these errors in a long time, which makes me wonder if there's a link between when the errors occur and what kind of connection/ISP/location the user that got the error has. Maybe mentioning the kind of connection we have when we report a server error would be helpful? It would certainly help weed out issues caused by public WiFi that's actually more of a stir-straw than a pipe.

Is it most common for you to be connected wired or wireless?

Wireless, which is usually in the 40-80 range.

I'm rarely farther than 10' from an AP.

According to the Guys That Know Stuff (tm), ISP doesn't matter. Working on it.

I hope the Guys That Know Stuff(TM) are right...

Subego, your setup sounds like mine; everything else is just peachy when "some sites" give me problems. Oh, and I had forgotten that my "special status" as an admin means that I do not get server busy errors. I don't feel that special... . Maybe I'm a different kind of "special."

The Guys That Know Stuff(TM) are right. The "server busy" error is from us. So when that page comes up, you've already reached us. The home ISP can't be the cause.

I was concerned that the servers were having issues because of repeat requests, garbled requests, etc. I'm glad they're right. That means They Can Fix Itâ„¢!

I hope it's not just me, but it seems like everything is snappierâ„¢ today. Even the (huge) banner ads load quickly...

There was also a full on database error in there somewhere between 12:48p and now, but I forgot to note the time.

Someone left the door to the cage open and the hamsters got out. I'm tellin' ya, it's pandemonium in the server room right now.

I haven't spotted any of these server messages in like the last 2 months. Can you fix this?

On (I think) June 10 from 6:40pm edt to at least two hours after that (I went to bed shortly after), I was unable to access the forums. I kept receiving 504 Gateway timeouts, and then a vBulletin generic white-background error message that said something like "The page could not be found."

We're aware. We can generally get them fixed quick, but that was a more troublesome problem. All better now.

Ah, I remember June 10. The day I got 311 notices of DB errors in the admin email. Not a record, but the biggest in months.

Well what happened?

Site was down for most of the past 2 hours for me. Safari was like the server is not responding.

It was lying for a while. DH directed them to dev/null for a few years, after a big incident, costing him days to download the 10s of thousands of error emails. wuss. I turned them back on a few years ago.
