So there I was, sitting at the dinner table eating dinner...and in the background was CNN with it's multiple live reports from....everywhere, covering Hurricane Dennis. And it was Larry King nonetheless.

Why?

Don't we already have a channel devoted entirely to this sort of thing? I seem to recall having a channel called, THE WEATHER CHANNEL, that does a fabulous (and far better) job of covering these types of things....

How far gone are we as a nation that we need to watch CNN reporting about a hurricane, especially considering we already have a channel that does that!!

I'm with Lewis Black.....we need, like, shots or therapy or something..

Probably because the other news channels are covering it. They don't want to be left behind or be out-scooped, you know? Is it lame? Of course, but they are already losing the ratings war, and as they say, they have (AOL/Time Warner) share holders to keep happy.

It's 'cause some weather events can run into the billions of dollars in damage, so everybody's covering the story. Ya ever notice that all the major news channels carry the same AP stories? You'd think they'd have some original reporting. At least they have different pictures.

CNN/U.S. learned years ago that when it doesn't cover severe weather as if it were the only thing going on in the world, The Weather Channel takes away all its viewers.

Fox News and MSNBC have to do the same.

It's probably just CNN's conservative bias trying to cover up happenings.

Ummmm...Because it's news? Like how last year FOUR hurricanes trashed Florida and there are still a lot of people out of their homes because of that so it's got a human interest angle? Like because this BIG storm is going to wind up affecting the weather for the EASTERN THIRD of the U.S.? Get real. Hurricanes are a Big Deal, and they affect a lot of people.

Well not everyone has the weather channel. I for one pay for basic no thrills cable, getting 35 channels that end with CNN, no weather channel for me.

And for all the things to bother someone, CNN covering weather should not be one of them.

Is the news day that slow?

Notice how they over dramatize it all... If it weren't so pathetic it woudl be entertaining.

What's interesting is that they cover it wall to wall 24/7 for like the last couple of weeks now. the Attacks in the UK got what a day or 2? I would think a terrorist attack on innocents is much more news than some storm. Hurricanes hit Florida all the time during the season. what kind of news is that? we know it ALWAYS does damage sometimes more than others? Whoopdedo. Why is that news? Must be a slow news month if they are covering a Hurricane. DURING HURRICANE SEASON.

Probably because there is nothing new with Natalie or Jean Benet. It is also a historic early hurricane fro its strength.
