UT2004; Onslaught absolutely rocks. UT was great too, but UT2004 has everything in UT and more. I'm very excited about UT2007. I'll probably move up to a better Mac just to play that game.

I loved Oni also. The Bots were really stupid and networking was dropped in development, but the fighting system was such fun.

It's too bad Gears of War will be XBox 360 only.

Oh definitely a second on Oni. I absolutely loved that game. That's one of like two games I've actually beat without cheat codes. I don't know of another game like it.

for a shooter game RE4 had AWESOME replayability. I think thats one of the only games i can just keep playing.
The merc missions were sometimes more fun than the actual game!

UT2004 is quite OK and Onslaught seems to be quite fun, however, I still have most fun playing 2 Towers online in UT99 (as it is called now), there are some servers. UT 2003 with its cartoonish look was nightmare. Also looking toward 2007. You see, the main idea of the game are greasly death matches - so why they would have such cartoonish look? Great if 2007 returns to original dark, killing theme

original Myst - I played it on LC630 with 12mb ram and 350 mb IDE hard drive on 15 inch CRT display back in 1995 and was mesmerized by its gameplay.

Labyrinth of Time was another great Myst-style game, with great music, sometimes I wish I have its soundtrack, it so beautiful.

Journeyman had great gameplay too

I agree with a very many here:
Day of the tentacle, Super Mario world and bros 3, Zelda and Beyond Good and Evil.

However, I am surprised no one has mentioned Civilization or Sim City. What about the sims, tribes or halo? Duke Nukem 3D? Monkey Island series? Dune 2000? Command and Conquer? Age of Empires? Sim Ant? Stunts? Excitebike? GTA: San Andreas? MS Flight Simulator? Tiger Woods?

But despite all my history of video games and now even studying it. I can say without a shadow of a doubt that the very best game of all times is World of Warcraft. And before you join the rallying cry of the anything-but-wow crowd, I want you to think long and hard about a game that is more addictive, more longevity and is more popular than this game. I dare you.

Sim City was very cool. Duke Nukem 3D was cool. The other Duke Nukems were good too. Wolfenstein 3D was bad as hell in its day. Halo is legendary. GTA is, too. The sequels are getting on my nerves, though. That being said GTA 3-VCS are not bad games, IMO.

Oh yah, those merc missions were sweet. I loved playing as Krauser. My friends and I competed for best time with any character. I won on the village map, but that was it.

They have succeeded. The only reason that many stop playing an MMO is to start on the sequel. Sometimes they play both. I only ever got into one MMO, and due to how addicted I got, I am staying away from the genre forever. The game was called Shattered Galaxy.

I really want to play Ico sometime, but I haven't been able to find it. I'm also told that Shadow of the Colossus is very good.
You are in Soviet Russia. It is dark. Grue is likely to be eaten by YOU!

No two people are going to agree on the best games, but we can point out some heavy hitters in different categories. Heres my take on it.

FPS: Goldeneye (Good game play, good design, fun muliplayer)
RPG: Fallout 2 (You could walk up and hit someone in the croach with a sludge hammer)
Puzzle: Tetris & Chu Chu Rockets (the later is best played in Japanese. Plus it had online play. NEKO FEVAR!)
Arcade: Ikaruga (the most difficult game. EVER. No really. Google it)
Fighting: Soul Caliber (its still damn good)
Epic Adventure: Zelda OoT (You could spend all day fishing. And you did)
Muliplayer Crazy Fun: RTW: Enemy Territory (Its frickin free man)
Games for Everyone: Simcity 2000 (porntipsguzzard)
Super Scary: Silent Hill games
Games you feel guilty about: Any game with Kirby in it. (He is just super cute)

That is true. However that also implies that it will never get boring. No other game has this much content. Not even GTA: SA or Zelda or FF. (infinite replayability games a la Tetris not included of course). I have played it on and off for almost two years and it never gets old.

I used to be a MMORPG hater before WoW. The genre just didn't appeal to me. Blizzard just did something right. Same goes for my fiance. She thought she'd hate it too, now she loves it just the same

It's the most fun a box can have.

Amazon.com: Atari Flashback 2.0: Computer & Video Games

The full list of games: 3D Tic-Tac-Toe, Adventure, Adventure II, Aquaventure, Arcade Asteroids, Arcade Pong, Asteroids Deluxe, Atari Climber, Battlezone, Caverns Of Mars, Centipede, Combat, Combat 2, Dodge'm, Fatal Run, Frog Pond, Hangman, Haunted House, Human Cannonball, Lunar Lander, Maze Craze, Millipede, Missile Command, Off the Wall, Outlaw, Pitfall, Quadrun, Radar Lock, Return To Haunted House, River Raid, Saboteur, Save Mary, Secret Quest, Space Duel, Space War, Video Checkers, Video Chess, Wizard, Yars' Return, and Yars' Revenge.
Adventure II (2005) is much more challenging than the original.

The remix of Yar's Revenge isn't so good though.

And Haunted House is still lame, even today.

For 2-d fighting games: Marvel vs. Capcom 2

There's nothing like busting an infinite combo before your opponent does and making them cry all the way back to their momma for more quarters to put in the machine!

Magneto, Storm, Psylocke. UNBEATABLE!

For 2-d side-scrolling games: Castlevania: Symphony of the Night

Hands-down, this game set THE standard of all future Castlevania titles... and simply puts any 2-D Super Mario or Sonic games to shame!

For 2-d puzzle games: Tetris

'nuff said.

Macintosh FPS: Marathon Trilogy

yeah, i realize that it's not really a 3D game, but rather 2.5D...... LOL. But this game actually has a STORY going, unlike all those Doom clones on the PC

PC FPS: Star Trek VOYAGER: Elite Force

Based on the old Q3 engine, why would i even consider this game? Well because I PWN on it... so there you have it!

Best old game = Marathon 2.

Best new game = The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion.

I liked Castlevania:Simon's Quest better. Call me crazy.

Tetris, the original owns. I never really dug any of the sequels. I didn't even like some of the ports. There are good clones, though.
