Actually, I like to think of G-d talking to Noah.

Imagine what the neighbors thought when Noah started building an Ark in the neighborhood.

"What's that?"
" 's an Ark."
"Mind getting it out of my driveway, trying to go to work here!"

Next thing you know, the neighborhood covenenants council and the city zoning commission are coming around, asking questions, leaving nasty letters and fines, and what's Noah got to say in his defense?

"G-d told me to ask you: How long can you tread water?"
