Of course, I'm not serious, but look at the picture I found by accident at the Microsoft site:

That's not what I was questioning or observing, but the decission to use that picture. It is irrelevant if it is a stock picture or if they shot it; they dedided to use it. And it is a computer related company with a product of one of it's strongest competitors. It is not kile they put a fake Ming Dynasty vase on the heading. Capisce?

I rather prefer to think that you are not suggesting that the only picture of a notebook under an arm was that with the iBook.

Is that actually a mac? Do the iBooks have two side-by-side USB ports?

Yes, it's an iBook. iBooks have all the ports on one side, except for power, which is on the other.

But yeah, this is non-news: MS has used stock photos of Macs repeatedly.

Or Paint.

And I assume Microsoft has Intel Macs by now already, so they are no longer "assuming" whether they boot Windows, they know it.

I'm sure they already know already. Microsoft has a notorious history of being able to acquire prototype Macs from Apple since the very beginning. Why stop a good trend now?

Or maybe their advertising company just isn't in touch with the world.

It wouldn't, since Microsoft does not use its license to restrict what machines you can run Windows on. They do have a nasty habit of assuming that if you buy a Windows-compatible machine without Windows then you "obviously" intend to pirate Windows for it, though.

Interestingly enough, however, the reverse is not true. Apple's license agreement specifically says that you can only run OSX on Apple-branded hardware, so buying OSX for a non-Apple computer would technically be piracy, even if you bought the software legitimately. Yes, this is stupid, but unless Apple changes its licensing terms -and I doubt they will- then technically it's the reality.

It's their webdesign department that decided to use it. Well, guess what computers the design and marketing departments are using to produce their promotional material ?

Bill Gates and the monkey do NOT micro-manage on THAT level. Otherwise, yeah, it wouldn't be there.

This is legally not enforceable.

First, the act of BUYING can NEVER be piracy.
Second, I doubt that rhis is piracy in a technical sense. I would think of it more of a license agreement violation. The question still stands if this is legal, and enforcable.
