The first version of Vista will not run on Mactels, but a later one will run on 64-bit Mactels.

The other Vista-on-Macs thread was all about how it won't run on the current 32-bit Macs with EFI (since Apple is the only significant OEM to use EFI on 32-bit machines). It's a shame Apple didn't enable the legacy BIOS compatibility option in EFI on the Intel Macs.

Read the last post. And the thread was "No EFI support for Vista"

SWF had simply jumped the gun again.

Nothing is assured. Not with Apple.

Me, I'm waiting for 128-bit.

Huh, that doesn't make sense.

Intel machines running on OS X ?

I guess you meant Windows running on Apple Intel machines...

And it's obviously completely logical that there no doubt will not be 64-bit Intel Macs. It would be positively thilly of Apple to try and sell such a thing—in addition to Intel trying to make such a processor. Thilly, I say—thilly!

So true, this has to be the post of the day

Anyway, I much preffer we would get some bunch of Mac clones instead of the hability of run any sort of windows on our future Macintoshes,

Vista on 'Mactels' --> windows spreading (even more, that is) over the world…

Mac clones --> Mac OS X spreading over the world…

Which one do you really want ! ?

I think he was noting the irony of the fact that it does seem easier to run OSX on a ‘winTel’ PC (entirely possible) than it is to run Windows on a MacTel.

Oh, ok.

Well, it's not really THAT surprising.

Given that OS X with the Unix roots is more versatile, and the PC hardware more open...

Given that Mac Clones also --> Apple going out of business, it won't bother me too much if some people put Vista on their Macs.

"I start fires!"

Apples 64 bit attemps to make an OS for us mac 3D people has be 3rd rate.
We all were lied to and bought g5s which arent faster than pc's, it didnt even have a 64bit OS so it couldnt be a supercomputer, then we cried performance and apple went intel, and rosetta doesnt run lightwave and fprime properly without regular crashes.
If MS beats apple to the punch id say suffer, Apple seems to only care about releasing ipods these days and not get their pro market into swing properly.

a 64 bit OS does not really imply supercomputer to start with... and while the OS is still 32bit it is entirely possible to run 64bit applications without one... which means it's up to the 3rd party software developer to make that happen anyway. In worse case senerio you've still got a 32bit appllcation gui interfacing with a 64bit backend... which would really not be any slower than a pure 64bit application.

Anybody running a 3D modeling program under rosetta should be slapped silly anyway.
