Ok - it is late (or early depending on your view point), but I am not hearing things. I have a PowerBook G4 1.67GHz running 10.4. The speaker is muted. When pushing the processor fairly hard, I am getting a series of sounds from the left side that sound like waves crashing ona beach. It lasts for 2 or 3 seconds and starts out loud and then fades.

Is this some sort of RFI pickup from the processor being picked up by the speaker?

Are you sure its the speaker? that could be a fan or bearing.

No, these interferences do exist. I have them with various applications, e.g. in these coloured stickies I get them for every single character I type.
