Notice any similarities?

No way, they're completely different.

What nobody can use a compass icon now because apple uses one.

Why are people so surprised that the Voyager copies the iPhone? You had to have know it would happen.

I understand that there isn't much they can do for a calendar icon, but they didn't have to make it look so similar to iCal. I wonder why they have July 19 as the date?

Re: the original post, I could have forgiven the compass but the rest of the icons do look a little... inspired.

Everyone knows that the LG Voyager (VX10000) is no iPhone.

No self-respecting designer would rip off an icon, or other user interface element, by that much.

Just because a compass is a generic object, like any good icon should be, it doesn't mean there's only one way to depict one. The proportions and colours are much too similar. They could have at least had the needle pointing in another direction, and maybe use gold instead of silver for the trim, and a more earthier, lighter tone for the face of the compass.

I mean, since you're designing the thing from scratch, why bother emulating what's out there already? But hey, that's just my mentality. Oftentimes it's creative directors with no imagination that make these calls...

If VZ had used the icon for the web browser, I may see the point. But this is a navigation app, which BTW isn't even a function in the iPhone.

Why is the Mac mob so defensive today, when VZ has been using this icon for years, e.g my VZ nV (LG VX9900, released 1 year ago):

At least the other 7 icons look like original creations.

The 'voice command' icon in the LG phone and the 'speech' icon in the OS X sysprefs are um.. rather similar. So is the bluetooth icons in OS X and the LG phone.

It's all very familiar.

The voyager in general looks like the iphone. Black background, black casing. Even the icons at the bottom are in a similar position. I'm all for competition, but I hate how apple is copied so heavily yet a lot of consumers believe that the copy (in this case, the voyager) is the original. LG's description doesn't help either: "The first handset with both interactive touch screen and a full QWERTY keyboard, " This is false because the iphone touchscreen keyboard is full, albeit non-physical.

The Bluetooth icon is the "official" icon for Bluetooth. It's not an Apple creation by any stretch of the word.

Uh oh I see LG is using the @ in one of their icons. Apple has that in there. THEY RIPPED it off sue em

Seriously. I cannot see this as a problem especially since a compass is generic object
