Seems such a useful feature but it's infuriating how "nearly" it works.

Can't get round what I think are permissions problems when files are synced back.

Anyone actually doing this.

No, I haven't tried.

What would be the point of having the Dropbox on a Drobo, rather than your home directory ?

How big of a Dropbox is it ?

One solution could be to put it into a Disk Image, and have that sit on the Dobo. Dunno if that works.

It's not super big. Around 50GB. It's project for a client. They are trying to use Dropbox to share work files with remote office workers rather than have them vpn in which is too slow. For some reason they want the dropbox on their drobo, probably because they have a Drobo, but the permissions errors are a problem. Also syncing seems to duplicate files all over the place. I think this is probably because they have an alias to the drop box folder and the sym links are causing in issues.

Anyway. Probably best to just shove the dropbox on the server internal drive. No need for the raid as backup since the files are synced to DB in the cloud AND other machines,

I agree. Just advise them of that.
