Hi!

Occasionally I lose the ability to minimize windows in certain apps (I noticed it in Safari and Finder so far). The middle button doesn't turn yellow when I move the mouse over it and the menu item is greyed out. Quitting and restarting the affected application resolves the issue. Any clues what might cause this? Thanks!

I've been trying to narrow down some set of variables that are causing it, but also am thusfar clueless and suffering from the same thing.

If the Dock crashes, it can cause this issue--confusing any open windows. Or at least, that seems to be what has caused it for me, though it rarely happens. The reason for this is that the Dock is what controls minimizing, exposé, and the Dashboard. Without the dock, none of these work.

Hm, I don't think that is what causes it for me. I always have a few windows minimized in the dock, so if it crashed unnoticed, I would notice the (formerly minimized) windows on the desktop afterwards (hope you know what I mean).

You can't minimise tha last app. Try bringing another to the fore and then minimising the one that failed.

All my apps just lost the ability to minimize. Ever figure out why this is doing it? I just came out of a full-screen game.

I had this issue for a while, but it completely disappeared one day. Haven't had it since.

Do you have a "hacked" copy of Front Row installed? This issue seems to be associated with certain versions of the patch that allows Front Row to work on non-iMac machines.

I am having this issue as well. No hacked front row, recently updated to 10.4.4, all other apps are up to date. No apps are hidden, i just can't click on the minimize button or minimize windows with keyboard/menu. sometimes closing the app and reopening it will fix the issue, a restart ALWAYS fixes the issue. Has anyone gotten any more details about this?

z0ne81, did you notice it before 10.4? I had the same issue with 10.3 a few times as well. At first i thought it was screen spanning doctor, but now it's happening on an emac that doesn't have that installed. hm. still searching for answers.

I've noticed this on a dual G5 and PowerBook G4 Ti. A few months later, is there any update?

schalliol, do you use Remote Desktop Client? I have found I can almost always recreate the problem by hiding (not minimizing) a full screen RDC session. i can also almost always return minimizing functionality by unhiding, and rehiding RDC.

Hi!

For me it went away at some point, no idea why. But now it has been reintroduced with 10.4.6.
